It might be too deep for the offset box end wrench. That would be a good solution if the offset is enough to get down in there. I don't have one in that size so I can't check.

Anybody?

As I recall it is very hard to get the offset wrench down in the mount far enough to work. A socket is MUCH easier. I'm another guy who used a closed socket with a hex head. Put the allen socket on an extension through the socket, and used a wrench (not a crows foot as some others seem to do) on the socket itself. Of course, I didn't have a socket that fit the rears and had to do those with an offset wrench. A lot harder, but it all worked out. This was for a PSS-9 install.

I took a cheap impact wrench socket and cut/ground a window in the socket to insert an allen key. Works the same as the Hazet but costs only $3 and about 20 minutes of my time. Used them twice now and works great for the home shop...

Cheers,

Mike

Solsrch, I am racking my brain trying to picture this. How do you turn one without the other moving?

I know this is the wrong size, but is this the type of socket solsrch is talking about?

Yes, that is the right kind. First the allen bit goes into the shaft. Then, the socket goes over the nut. Then, using an extension that will fit through the hole at the top of the socket, I connect to the allen bit. Now, with a rachet on the extension and a wrench on the socket, I can turn one and hold the other or turn both in opposite directions. Rick, is this making sense?

Wow! Great idea. I get it. What are those sizes again? I'm assuming it's a 3/8" drive extension through a 1/2" drive socket. But what size is the socket?

I think the front was a 22mm and yes I used a 3/8" drive allen bit. I'd rather use 1/2" because the torque was pretty high but my 3/8" extension barely fit through. The rear I did with a combination wrench and the allen bit.

Sorry for the delayed response on this, but just to confirm - the front is 21mm, at least on my 95.

I made the perfect tool from an offset wrench. You need to grind down the material on the handle side so it fits down in and around the hex nut. Wide open in top to ensure hex wrench is seated correctly. Worked perfectly for me. Totally for loan if someone needs it and will promise to return it.
