Post GETTING THE CAR BACK MONDAY!! WHOOOOO HOOOO!!

I am excited about getting the car back it has been gone for about two weeks. I had a Techart II rear spoiler put on and RS front splitters. The front was blended in all the way up the hood and the rear was blended in through the rear quarters so that the paint will match. Polar Silver is apparently a hard color to match.

I am extremely impressed with Honea Auto Body here in St.Louis they had XO the paint company come in and help them with matching and also touched up some small chip marks for nothing.

It is hard to find good body shops and good mechanics that are willing to spend the time and attention to work on our cars. At least it is here in St.Louis. It will be tough sleeping tonight knowing I will be picking the car up tommorow. It's like getting a brand new car!!

Post pics of your car when you get it!

I'd be very interested in seeing how your polar silver looks with the blend. I love my silver car but, yes, I've heard that the color is hard to match. There are some shops here that can do light bodywork and claim they can match any color. I dunno...

They say the problem with the Polar silver is you can't tell what the color is going to do until you put the clear coat on. It could look very similar with just the paint and when you put the clear coat on it can be two shades darker.

Normally when putting front splitters on you blend just half way up the front bumper and the rear I don't think you blend at all. In my case the front bumper cover was resprayed to cover rock chips and didn't really match that well in the first place. I am keeping my fingers crossed and have confidence in this company. I will post pics and you tell me what you think.

Apparently the manufacturer of the paint can really change the color as well. I had the front bumper/hood/fenders resprayed by a good friend who happens to run a top-notch body shop. He first used Standox and found the paint impossible to match mnostly due to the compositio of the metallics in the paint. He then switched to Glasirit and matched the pain perfectly. You also have to understand the direction and pattern of painting since when you lay down the metallic particles they have to be oriented the right way so when light reflects off the paint all in the same way. Otherwise you will end up with different shades.

This is why you get paint guys with 25 years of experience! ;-)

Thanks for the info. Honea the body shop has repeatedly mentioned the metallics now I know what they mean. Thanks
