It's mostly verbose marketing fodder, but I'll try...

- new exterior mirror with twin stalks, a la Carrera GT for better aerodynamics
- brighter exterior lights, with 3rd brake light integrated into spoiler
- new headlights with bi-xenon lights (Carrera S and optional for Carrera)
- instrument panel: there is a dot matrix display to show text and symbols, the gauges are more spread apart. The instrument faces are aluminimum for the 'S' and black for the standard car
- two single exhaust pipes for Carrera, two twin pipes for 'S'
- 18" wheels for Carrera, 19" for 'S'
- there seems to be a sports steering wheel for the 'S' and the extra steering wheel controls might be optional(?)

Cylinders: 6
Capacity: 3.6litre (Carrera), 3.8 litre (S)
Power: 325hp@6800rpm (Carrera), 355hp@6600rpm (S)
Torque: 370Nm@4250rpm, 400Nm@4600rpm (S)
Gears: 6 manual or 5 speed tiptronic

Top speed:
Carrera tip: 280kph
Carrera manual: 285kph
S tip: 285kph
S manual: 293kph

0-100kph:
Carrera tip: 5.5
Carrera manual: 5.0
S tip: 5.3
S manual: 4.8

Electronically controlled suspension(?): standard on S, optional on Carrera

Thanks for the info.

Mostly good stuff and I like the looks much better than 996 but 325 hp is pretty low (no need to give me that "hp isn't anything yada yada yada..." stuff, it IS low).

"S" numbers look better and I'm happy to see that "S" means now more than just a different looking thing as previously it has been.

What'll the price be? Under or over $100,000? We'll see - and will see what PCNA thinks is best for us automatic-driving, cell phone holding American dummies.

I hope it is less than the $100K GT3!

Suppose to start at $70K but you know Porsche; you'll won't be able to get out the door for less than $80K.

If you go to the porsche.com site and pick great britain as the country selection it will give you all the info and short films in english when to click on the 997 picture. The development section has two good films; one winter segment shot in the snow and the other in summertime South Africa.
