Post OT: Finished the drag bike restoration...

I know this is off topic but I cant help myself in showing this wild ride that I just finished a complete restoration on. Its a two-engine (Honda 750's) vintage drag bike that was constructed in the early 70's by Terry Vance and Byron Hines. Its been on the cover of several mags (back then) and won 13 of 14 events in 1974. A lot of history behind this bike.
Gilmer belt drive to a two-speed Lenco trans with a centrifical clutch from a V-8 Chevy dragster. The original Honda transmissions were 'cut-off' to enable the engines to be so close to each other. What a ride this must of been.

Whaddayamean 'What a ride this must have been'? Looks to me like your ready to go out and see EXACTLY what kinda of ride it was and is. Very nice work, and as a motorcycle junkie as well, it is awesome to see such a special machine restored to all of it's glory. Now, you just need to get that rear slick all gumballed up, what for historical significance of course.

I remember that bike very well. It was very popular and was in all the magazines of the time. How did you end up with it Chris?

That's incredible! I am also a bike nut and appreciate the ingenuity and innovation represented in your bike. PLEASE tell me you've started it. I'd love to take a pass down Sears Point's 1/4 mile on that beast!

Thanks guys for all the compliments. The bike is owned by a well known bike collector that has owned it for about 12 years. It had been sitting in his garage for all this time all grungy and rusted. The bike is going to the NHRA museum soon. They have been asking when this will be finished, they are anxious to show this bike.

When I get home, I will scan one of the magazines I have of it on the cover and post it here (if thats ok with you guys). Its Terry Vance riding it with jeans and greasy hush-puppies on (70's safety equipment). What a nut he is.

Here are some more pics outside in natural light. This thing is heavy and low. I had a hard time getting out then back in the garage due to it being so low. I high-centers on the transition from the garage floor to the driveway. What a beast.
