Intercities showed up at 6:45 am today with my new toy
From winning a bid on E-bay, PPI in Atlanta, across the country to Norcal in 2.5 weeks from deal fruition to turning the ignition. Took it out for a nice get acquainted drive and enjoyed every minute. Can't wait to detail it out this weekend as the car was picked up in the rain and was pretty grubby.
Very nice.

Jeffrey:

Welcome !

It is a pretty small world as there are a number of us local to you. I am actually in Walnut Creek too. You should keep a watch here on the forum for the local meet ups and drives. We did one a couple of weeks ago and it was a great day. Stay tuned. Feel free to drop me a PM if you have any local questions. Enjoy the new car !

Regards

Thanks Jim-
I definitely will keep watch. My drive today consisted of driving over to a fellow Rennlister's house down the backroads to Camino Tassajara where I was able to exchange a 6-pack of Gordon Biersch for (2) brand new 993 rear lenses (1 of mine was cracked) that he had found in his garage. Super nice guy (his name was Jim as well), super great deal, and the perfect excuse to blow off the afternoon and get a feel for the car.

Workitjr,

Congrats, I am having the OPPOSITE luck with Intercity trying to take delivery of my 97 993TT. I have shipped with them a number of times, but I think this will be my last. After I booked almost 3 weeks ago, they picked up my car last Friday. Could not even get an estimate of a delivery date. They told me today it will be the middle of next week until it shows up. That is almost 2 weeks on the Freeking truck. Car was bought in New Hampshire and supposed to be delivered to Los Altos. WHY COULDN'T THEY GET MY CAR ON YOUR TRUCK.

So I just want my car. Turns out the the driver will be in Las Vegas Saturday, but has to wait until Monday to deliver somes cars, pick up some more, etc. and then eventually get to Northern Cal (got the drivers cell number and spoke to him directly Nice guy). So I am catching a flight on Saturday, getting my car and driving back. I am NOT waiting another week for my car.

Congrats on your new toy.....

Wow - I LOVE the color or your car. You have excellent taste

Congrats on your lovely purchase. I noticed you were bidding on some of the same posters I just bought on Ebay, too. We have alot in common.

This is the start of a great love affair with your new 911.

Viperbob -
You lucky dog! I kinda experienced several thoughts of meeting the truck as I was in Dallas on business all last week. You have the right idea. The folks at the office of Intercities are not overtly friendly, communicative, or helpful, but I do know this, and it appears to be borne out by Steve G as well, their drivers are really good folks.

I had a meeting at 9:00 this morning, They called from the truck yesterday and said they would be here at 8:00. They stayed at the Cordelia truck stop coming down from Auburn, and when I told them I needed it earlier rather than later, they pulled up at 6:45 am. Craig and Marcia were my drivers. They lease the trailer and then drive their own truck. Make sure you pack a radar detector in your overnight bag to Vegas! It is downright AMAZING how many 993's are shipping into the Bay Area! Have fun and keep the rubber side down. Hey, maybe I oughta just drive you to Vegas for a shakedown run on my car, drop you off, and follow you back

My wife asked me today after 2.5 weeks of obsession (exclusive of the search to FIND the right car), as I have been dealing with details, shipping, logistics, insurance, and necessary first round of goodies, 'Are you ready to be a parent again?' Yes dear, the boys and I will be going out for the paper on Sunday. Should be back in a few hours!

Jeffery - Congratulations on the new car - silver perfectly fits the 993 - its a rocket color like white. Watching the way that the truck delivered the car was very cool. I even got to get a close look at 2 Cayennes which were on the top section.
West of Chicago its a little cooler and I'm hoping to detail my car this weekend. Its still got that Florida dust on it. Mine is similarly safely inside along older brother 951. (note to self: next house will have a 3 car garage)
I used to live in SF and drove my '77 Z from the Presidio to Muir Beach every Saturday. You guys have some amazing roads to be driving to get the Sunday Paper...now isnt there a bookstore in Marin?

Congradulations! what a great feeling!!!, last September I had my 1995 C4 delivered from NC. It was really terrific, though in ignorance I used a uncovered transporter, and had some minor paint damage from some fluid. Otherwise the car is perfect. I would never use an uncovered shipper again!

Thanks all -
993 Chaz -
Immediate plans are 18" wheels and tires, 30k service is due, wiring harness is setup, and then just drive it for awhile. I think I might also like to swap out the speakers in the car for a little bit more clarity. I am sure within 12 months (if not sooner) it will have Robin's exhaust on it, clear corners, and euro tail lights. The car looks pretty damn good just as it sits though!

Congrats! Us SF/Bay Area guys will have to get a drive going...I hear there is an area in the northern part of the bay where they have filmed a bunch of car commercials? Not sure if Porsche was among them, but since Goodby-Silverstein (the ad firm responsible for "Kills Bugs Fast", "Like Peanut Butter to the Roof of your Mouth", etc...who knows?
