I think that is the case, they say DC12v on the package, so they must have an inline resistor in the base.. I'll reverse them..

okay.. got em working.. really easy..

take a Dremel or a file and remove the two "idiot tabs" which only allow the socket to be inserted one direction.. they are on the base of the plastic holder, not the bulb. after those are removed, just insert the base onto the lead wires, but reverse it.. works well, just needed the polarity reveresed.
