Default 993 OEM SILVER SHIFT PATTERN INSERT

Looking for 993 OEM Silver Shift Pattern insert. Will consider just the insert or even with a complete boot. I realize Pelican sells an aftermarket version but just interested in the OEM silver insert.

Thank you,

Gary

There's something much better that will blow your mind if you haven't seen it yet

Thank you,

I bought the Pelican aftermarket silver insert and I am very pleased with the build quality, it is a solid hunk of Aluminum compared to the black plastic it replaces. The fit is also excellent. I wonder what more you get out of an OEM version?

Thank you! I have the aluminum one now with my C4S. I have an extra shifter cover that's new but has the black plastic. I want to replace the black plastic insert with the factory aluminum insert in the extra one.

The Porsche factory inserts are both plastic, not aluminium. 2 wheel drive cars have a rubber inner **** and a black plastic insert, the 4 wheel drive cars have a thicker & heavier metal inner **** with a silver plastic insert.

Porsche dont sell the inserts, just the complete *****.

Hi Gary
Maybe a silly question, but can you paint the old one?

Hi Andy:

Thank you! The finish on the plastic is smooth and not like the silver one. Furthermore, I really don't how it would hold up. Hopefully, someone has one or old boot with one that they replaced with another type of shifter handle and want to dispose of the original.

All the best,

Gary

Default painted shift **** insert

Here's mine. Aluminum insert from Pelican. Sanded with 1500-2000, cleaned with alcohol, painted several coats of Krylon Signal Red, gave to daughter to paint in the white with enamel ( she likes to paint), then 4 coats of auto clear coat. Been at least a year and it still shows no wear.

Was the glue not strong enough to keep it in place?

I didn't glue it. I pressed it in straight and after first drive it rotated and stayed snug. I kind of like it tilted. It would be easy to pop out and put a trimmed piece of tape around cap.

I have checked my insert and it's made of metal likely aluminum but the black one's are plastic but my OEM is metal.

Have you taken it out of the ****? They are coated plastic and the finish isnt paint, its a coating of sorts and does feel like metal;
