Default 993 - Skunk Works/Secret Models and options

In a thread about the Turbo S in the 993 Turbo forum there was a 993 Turbo Cab mentioned. Officially not the 993 program, but still they made a few with the 964 engine I believe.

Does anyone know if there any more Skunk Works project from Porsche that could be interesting to know?!

I do not recall where I saw the story, maybe one of the Speed Channel stories, or a Porsche book, but they did make some Turbo Cabs, only a handful and only to prepaid customers as the story goes. I believe that no one in Porsche knew about it until after the fact. It might have been a magazine article, but it was true as they showed pictures of the car.

It is a real bummer getting old, can't remember anything anymore.....

Gregg, I believe it was at Road America. The video of that crash used to be on flachbau.com, but the site seems to be down right now.

If that is the flip-over crash with Dahlmus (SP) it was at Road Atlanta.

As always, with age comes experience....

Zamirz & GreggT

Road Atlanta, Braselton, GA
Yannick Dalmas was the driver to decide to move on to the skies with the GT-1

Let me check if I can find it somewhere on the net, otherwise, PM me and I'll send it by mail (it's very small)

So now when you have hijacked my thread, started another topic in it, and basically avoided my original question.....

....any idea of any other odd 993? :-D

Found it!

http://medlem.spray.se/lolitot/%5Bmog1%5D/

It's the "Brutal!!! - Car Crashes - Porsche GT-1.mpg"

It looks like a members site, so please download it instead of streaming it so the owner doesn't get into any "bandwith trouble"

Oh, btw take a look at "Värsta Motorsågen.asf"
Someone bored made a chainsaw out off a V8-engine....

Back to the original topic ---

I remember a year or two ago that Road and Track ran an article on these 993 turbo cabs. They were the product of a number of valued (read: loaded) customers requesting a factory turbo cab. I dont recall exactly how many were made, but it was less than a hundred, i think. Hope this helps -- maybe run a search on the R&T site?
