Default Windshield question advice

had my 1995 993 Windshield replaced by reutable restoration shop in CT about 5 years ago. Recently noticed some wind noise at speed. Washing the car never saw water in the interior. Well today as car sat out in the remnants of tropical storm Ian at the car show saw water dripping from the top of the windshield. dont see anything loose or amiss from the outside Any thoughts on next step. Thanks in advance

All I know is a ton of sealer is shot around so apparently they didn’t seal it properly. I will also add there were some issues with some of the OEM gaskets awhile back being smaller.

Exposed to the sun for a long time, if the glue is not very good, there should be cracks.

The outer seal is actually a snap in molding that fits into a plastic channel that is part of the windshield. If you gently pull it back, you might see if there is anything happening to the seal around it ( make sure it’s warm as you don’t want to crack the channel). There are porsche TSBs about adding additional urethane sealer in gaps. A good windshield installer could probably assist.

Hi SDM,
If the cover surround strip around the windshield is lying flat it is not likely the source of the wind noise.
More likely it is from the door frame or maybe the sunroof.
You may be able to locate the source by using some masking tape to tape over each suspect source of the sound and see if it goes away.

If the windshield is leaking the moisture found is not at the top.
Moisture at the top is usually from the sunroof. The sunroof is designed to not seal perfectly, it has drain tubes so any moisture that makes it past the roof panel is carried away in the gutters underneath to the drain. You may have no problem at all. I would wait and see if the moisture reappears. If it does one or both of the drain tubes might be partially obstructed.

Here is a page that discusses clearing the drain tubes of debris.

Also to avoid future corrosion around the windshield and the rear back glass consider the following as a preventative measure if it has not already been done.

Both of the above procedures can be done as do-it-yourself projects in your driveway and are not too difficult or time-consuming.
Best regards,
Andy

How strong were the winds while it was raining?
if the windscreen is put in right it should be good for decades. I don’t get any seepage in rain at freeway speeds.
