In 1966 I showed up for my first date with my current and only wife in my parents' 1959 MGA, so she has known all along what she is dealing with. She is supportive, happy with her car, and has never driven mine even when offered. What worked for me is fluttering around and even test driving with her a few expensive cars, Ferrari, Bentley etc, also explaining that I am not a track hound squandering our kids' inheritance. Her impression of the track hound; I admire them. Finally, that her major tune-up (at dealer, omitted) and mine (at independent, omitted) are about the same. After that, even a brand new 993 about 5 years ago seemed ok. I don't talk about her clothes and she does not talk about my tires.
