Default Engine jacking point again

There is a lot of controversy over jacking from the engine but ASSUME that I do want to jack from under the engine... is this the correct place, and if not, where exactly should I be placing my rubber puck for jacking from under the engine? Thanks

Is it safe to lift from this area?

That's about where I've been placing mine for the past 15+ yrs with no apparent adverse effects.

Yes that’s where I lift mine. Twenty years no issues.

Hi vancouver z,
If you check in your owner's manual it specifically warns against lifting the rear by the engine case.
Considering that there are other methods to lift the car why take a chance?
Here are my thoughts about how to lift a 993.

I always lift by the case, but use a block of wood to spread the load. Would not use just the jack, that's asking for problems.

I've been using a 6"+ piece of 2x4 along the case seam for 15 years now. Spreads the load significantly more than a hockey puck, especially since it's soft pine.

That's how I've lifted mine (and countless other 993s) for 17 years.

I have one of these.

It attaches near the engine tray bracket. Seems to work well.

Be careful using a block of wood...It can split at the worst possible time.

Pressure treated wood holds up a lot better.

Certainly put jack stats under the lateral lift points, don't leave the jack as there as the sole lift point for a long period of time.

No controversy here. Done it that way for 15yrs until I went with a lift. Still do it in a pinch. Hockey puck is a good cushion and distributes load well.

Only argument against I can think of is the 900lbs of stress you put on the engine mounts in the opposite direction to what they were designed for, pulling them apart. What could possibly go wrong. At $450 each I’ll use my jack point jack stands and enjoy ultimate stability and security to boot.

if you’re on RS mounts you’re probably good.

This is completely unrelated and off topic but every time I see your avatar picture I think your car is floating.
