Strange A/C issue
Searched here and looked at Tores site for troubleshooting. Here is the situation. A/C blows strong and runs cool for about 30-40 minutes then fan will randomly stop or change speeds without any user input. A/C settings are below. Anyone experience this?
Max A/C button on (large snowflake)
Fan speed set to 4
Slides fully to the left
Temp set to cold blue dot
Recirc on

Scott, try the small snowflake. Settings as earlier.
when using the large snowflake it sets speed and other things for you.
kinda a one button max settings. If I recall correctly.
if all works good, the contacts for the large snowflake needs cleaned.
I believe Tore mentioning something about that on his site.

Big snowflake switch is often corroded, the small snowflake switch is more often used.
This can be corrected with some high-quality contact cleaner.

Perfect! Thanks, gentlemen!
Tore, do you suggest I pull the whole CCU and clean it as per your website instructions? My large snowflake button likes to pop off and I don't think it's ever been cleaned, at least not during my stewardship. Could be an easy weekend project.

It is only the internal electric parts that needs to be cleaned with contact cleaner.
The catches that holds the switch cap break off due to ageing and heat from the internal bulbs. It is possible to glue it, but you have to be very careful to not inhibit the operation of the switch.
If the cap falls out, the rest of the internals will be pushed out by the internal springs, and there's a lot of small springs and parts in there. I never bother to fix these switches any more, but have new switches in stock.
Cheers,
Tore
