Default Interior revamp- finally finished, finally

So I'm finally finished after fiddling with it on and off for about 5 months. All that is left to do is to buy a new shifter boot. Here is a list of stuff, which I all performed myself (not without frustration and hours of contemplation):

- Surflexed door inserts, handles, pockets, center console, and ebrake handle

- Modified HiFi door panels (check thread from about a week ago) with CDT CL-61 components and fiberglass subwoofer box with a 10" Elemental Designs subwoofer

- Carpeted door panels, kick panels, and top of transmission tunnel (whatever you want to call it) with midnight blue carpet. The subwoofer box was covered with the leftovers from my door panels.

- The shifter is a carbon fiber round ****, BOUGHT FOR $10 off ebay! The quality is pretty nice, and I prefer the ball over my dad's MY02 CF shifter in his 996. The best part is that a stock boot can be cut to fit the **** perfectly and look like it is worth $150 for the combo.

- The rear speakers are stock HiFi (surprisingly nice compared to front HiFis) and the HU is a Pioneer 750MP Premier I think (maybe 740?). The amp I had laying around sucks--it has plenty of power and sounds good, but it is cheap and gets electrical whine in it. I'll upgrade that soon.

- I probably have about 50 hours into this project after all of the fiberglass work but I'm single and love the satisfaction of doing things myself and learning new things. Total cost?

Surflex: $30
Carpet: $100
Fiberflass materials: $25
Stereo parts (including $150 CRAP amp): $600 and it sounds wonderful when the engine is off. You can flame my cheap priced stereo, but I have heard and installed very high end systems (aside from the REAL high end $$$ stuff) and it is almost comparable.
Shift ****: $15 after shipping
New/Used black shift boot on ebay: $30?

So I spent about $800 on the redo. I think it was money well spent.

Congrats on your completed project...looks like a lot of gratifying work...nothing like sitting in your ride surrounded by everything just the way you want it...

Enjoy~!!!

Thanks! Yeah, I got tired of the monotony of ALL marble gray (aside from the dash). It is a pretty color, but I needed a bit of contrast. Not to mention the way I mounted the components originally was heinous, so I went all out on the door panels.

Looks great! Where can I get new "Porsche" mats like you have?

Thanks for all of the compliments. It's almost like getting in a different car, but I like change so I don't get bored with having the same thing all the time.

Don,
I actually have no idea; the PO bought these mats soon before he sold the car to me. They are factory mats, though.

Mark, what shift **** did you end up using? Do you have a better picture of it? How heavy is it?

It doesn't weigh much, probably a similar weight to the rubber sleeve of a shifter that it replaced. I just need to get a new boot now.
