Post Body shops in the Bay Area, Ca

I'm looking into getting the front bumper & hood painted on my newly acquired '98 C2S. The prior owner had accumulated numerous rock chips, which I thought could be repaired for under $1000. After 3 estimates, all around $2400, I'm starting to think I either have "sucker" written on my forehead or I've grossly underestimated the cost of this project. Anyone have any recommendations, or have actual prices they've paid for similar work?

I've been looking into getting my hood painted also, becuase I have a nasty scratch in it. My estimate was $1100 from Matthews-Carlsen. I haven't done it yet though, so I can't comment on the quality of their work. But they were recommended by a few people on the board.

I couldn't think that it would cost an additional $1300 to paint the bumper cover. That seems a bit high.

There was another thread about painting the bumper cover and it seems to range from about $600-800 depending if you did the install yourself.

Try Dell's in Campbell - 408-295-7446. He only does 911s and 356s and has been doing this for a long, long time. His work is excellent and he should be cheaper than a dealer or a larger commercial shop. He repainted the hood and front bumper cover on my Polar Silver 993 after there was some paint hazing caused by a bra (long, painful story). He charged around $1200. He has a long wait list usually (maybe a month or more), but it is worth it. I would not take a Porsche anywhere else. I also had estimates from Porsche dealers and other shops for this and got to see work at various shops - no comparison to Dell. Price was not an issue for me as the Bra company covered the repairs.

BodyStyle in San Jose is one of the finest European shops in Northern California. Cecil and Carol Beech have been Porsche club racing enthusiasts for over a quarter century, and when you see their work you'll be amazed.
Give either of them a call and tell them you were sent by Steve Silver.....they will treat you right! 408 436 1616

I have had a number of repairs handled by Cecil and Carol and they are the best around! They repainted the rear lid on my Polar Silver 993 and did a fantastic job.

I have a body shop in San Carlos, I'm not trying to get the job, just give you a little help. To remove the bumper, strip, remove hood and strip, and blend fenders, you are looking at around $1300. That is if there are no dents and at $70 an hour labor.
