door strap broke
My door has been clicking for the last few months. Last night I think the strap broke away from the inside. The clicking has stopped and the strap is moving around (side to side) when I open the door. Obviously I need to get this fixed but my question is what is the damage done and if I delay what further damage could be done???
Thanks in advance for any advice

Yo Dan - I think Martin S. (Solana Beach) has had someone locally fix his for him, if I remember correctly. Shoot him a PM or he may chime in here...
There is no further damamge that can be done, unless you let you door swing wide open and bend forwards - that would be bad...Just take it easy on the door until you can get it fixed. Also, there is a DIY for this problem on Robin's site.

When mine were fixed they looked like this:
My body guy did a nice job welding it. I did not want to pay to get the fenders removed and repair it from the back. Its been about a year now and no clicks and it works fine. Both sides were done.
I think Porsche should have paid for this given the shoddy engineering....like that's going to happen!
Cheers,
Mike

Monique is right- this is a known weakness. Had my rear PU resprayed earlier this year and the first question asked was "check straps OK?"
I believe this is so common that the body shops are pretty familiar with the fix and it shouldn't be a big issue.
