Post Need help with headlight problem

My left headlight went out. It was fine last week when we did the PPI. The car subsequently went in the shop to have the suspension raised and aligned, and yesterday I noticed the left headlight was out. Both the high and low beams are not working. I checked the fuses and they are fine. I'm betting (hoping)it's something goofy like a wire coming loose, but I can't see how to get to the back of the unit. Any ideas?
Thanks all.

Scott,

Under the front bonnet, over by the headlight, under the inner side carpet, look for a small rod looking item held in place by a plastic "lock." Grab rod, twist free - & rotate!

Your headlight will pop forward & allow you to service it.

Sounds good 'eh?

If all else fails, read the manual.

AH HA! So the whole unit will pop out forward then?
Actually I need to get a workshop manual. The owners manual is a bit of a joke. I did diddle with that rod, but being completely in the dark literally and figuratively, I didn't try pulling the unit out.

My guess is the light isn't plugged in correctly. Do what Michael says and make sure it aligns into the plug correctly. You may have to remove the front fender liner to be able to verify the connection.

Scott: Go see Mike--he'll check it out quickly for you.

Also, if you want a set of 993/993TT factory work shop manuals, I've got one available, but I haven't purchased the updates since buying the set new -- it's about 2 years old. You can have them for half of what My Porsche charges--that appears to be the preferred source for Porsche work shop manuals. Let me know if you're interested. Of course, no shipping charges since you're so close.

Jack, I'm going to run home and try to pop it out and see what's what. I spoke to Mike and he said he would have a look at it if this doesn't get it. Yes I'd be very interested in getting your shop manuals.
Cheers all! I'll get back to you in a bit.

AND THERE WAS LIGHT! When I popped it out, the plastic housing on the plug was cracked and previously Duct taped. I plugged it back in and it was good to go. Thanks all for the help!

Chris, Yes I just got it. See "New Addition First Impressions" a few posts down. When I get some pictures back I'll post a couple.
I'm very pleased with the car. I purchased it from a fellow Rennlister that lives close by me.
The car has a Bilsteien suspension, Fikse FM-10 wheels, a short shifter, an FVD computer, different Turbo's, mufflers, wide ovals and attitude.
