Post Help: M030 option? Came on C4S just purchased.

Kindel.com calls the 030 option a "sport group". My dealer said it is called "sport type running gear" (got to be wrong).

And the best information is on p-car.com which lists all the parts included in 030.
Can someone describe in layman's terms (sorry, I'm still new at this) what the 030 option is/does? From the list on p-car.com, it looks as if it uses non-standard suspension parts to make the car tighter/stiffer and more 'turbo' like?
I have signed up for my first driver's ed and am wondering if this option will help/challenge a novice at the track?

M030 is a sport chassis option. Firmer shocks, higher rate springs and slightly stiffer anti-roll bars. Don't ask for specifications.

Yes, it's stiffer springs, sway bars, and shocks. They're not 'non-standard', but rather one of two factory offerings for the suspension tuning. If the M030 was on your car as originally built by the factory, there won't be any difference in the car's ride height. The non-US cars with M030 are about an inch lower.

I've bought a non-US M030 kit and installed it on my 96 coupe; both versions will make a nice improvement for you on the track.

Thumbs up

Miller,

As Viken and Robert have suggested, the M030 option is a nice choice for those wanting to give their street 993 a bit more poise at the occasional track day / DE event.

Positives: Keeps car "stock"; moderate cost (about $1,000 for parts, + labor or install yourself); good compromise for combined street and track use.

Negatives: Not the "ultimate" handling package for more serious track drivers.

After looking at a number of options, I plan to upgrade my 993TT suspension to the ROW (Rest of World, or "European") suspension. Compared to the US spec Turbo, the ROW M030 package involves changes in the four springs, rear shocks, and rear anti-roll bar. The front shocks and front anti-roll bar are the same for M030 US and M030 ROW.

Cool

All of the above pundits speak the truth! M030 gets you shocks, springs and slightly stiffer sway bars (I can't swear by the sway bars). However if you are lucky, the original owner ordered the Big Red calipers. Look inside you wheels. If you see some big Red Lobsters in there, you have got the Big Reds, that is, unless someone has just gone ahead a painted the stock tiny weenie calipers red. This has been known to happen.

It definitely has the big reds. However, the Big Reds weren't on the option list(030,373,374,159,490,601). It is a 98C4S and if I'm not mistaken, big reds came as std equipment on the S in 1998.

It is my understanding.that "lobsters" were standard on a 1998 c4s. I have one...But and I may be mistaken....YOu could delete the red color has far as color!, My car has big "black" lobsters!!!and has we all know the only way to get a lobster red, is to boil it!....IMOH

Just correcting a old post...the Carrera 4 S cars came with Big Reds...993 TT brakes. I believe you could have had them painted to some other color when placing your 993 Carrera 4 S order, but can't swear by it.

I have seen a black/black 98C4S, yellow stitching, yellow belts and yellow calipers. New on the showroom floor at champion in 98.

You got the money porsche will fix you up.
