Regarding Kumho R Compound,
Like many, I like the Victoracer 700s a lot. They wear reasonable well and stick with good predictability.
Last weekend at CA Speedway, I had the opportunity to speak to a Kumho Rep and he said the New Ecsta 700 R Compounds are just as sticky AND are designed to run with less Neg Camber. Apparently, they have a flatter tread profile than the victoracers. They also come in more 18" sizes, FWIW.

I re-read his statement and I think he's saying that stock-like camber works for this tire but 2.5 to 4.0 is more ideal.

The Corsa is now available in the US but I can't find anyone who sells them. The only pricing is on Carnewal.com which is slightly higher than the Cups at Tire Rack.

Well, I saw Woodman's site a couple of weeks ago and he didn't have most sizes in stock! Looks like not much has changed.

Robert,
You're right. Only the old Victoracers come in 255/40-17. If you want the new Ecsta 700, you'd have to get 275/40-17. But is there any specific reason you have to use 255s? I use 275/40Rear 225/45Front Victoracers on 17" Cups without any issues. Others have done the same (which is where I got the idea from ). You might want to try this tire size combo out. Again, as to the new Ecstas, I haven't used them so I have no experience with them. Have you heard anything from an actual user?

FWIW - These are the sizes I use in the Hoosiers on my stock 17" wheels - work great.

While we're on the topic of 18" track tires, I have a question regarding sizing for track/DE use. I have a C4S with 18" turbo look wheels. Stock sizes are 285/30x18 and 225/40x18. I'm currently using Bridgestone S02's but I'm considering trying a set of Kuhmos this time around. Should I stay with stock sizes or is there a better alternative?
Thanks.
Mark

If you have a stock suspension, common wisdom says that adding rubber at the front will reduce understeer. If you can get 8.5" wheels, a 245 front would probably be good. You need to make sure that you keep the total circumference very close to stock or else your speedo, cumulative miles etc will be off.
