Post Floor Jack

Has anyone found a good place to buy floor jacks. I would like to avoid mail order as the shipping can get expensive. I'm looking for a jack that has a minimum height of around 3.5" and cost under $200. I live in the Dallas, TX area but if you guys know of a nation wide chain like sears, pep boys or other places that would help.

Any advise would be appreciated.
PS. I do not want to have to drive my car up onto boards everytime I want to change tires just so I can use my cheap sears jack.

Thanks,
Mark S.

Hi, Mark.

I bought a 3 tonne jack at Sears a few days ago and it works fine getting under my car. Why the boards?

AC jacks seem good but are expensive. Maybe we could get a group buy going. I seem to have seen a thread about that somewhere.

Ultimate Garage sells them but apparently no longer for mail order.

Good Luck!

If you don't have one of these "low-rider", "boy racer" vehicles, I would think that a Sears floor jack should work. My 993 is at ROW height; Sears 2 ton floor jack is at just below 5" at lifting face. With a hockey puck placed on the lifting pad, by jacking the car up at the rear lifting point I can raise the whole side of the car.

By the way, my "cheap" Sears 2-ton floor jack has lasted over 10 years with no problems.

Beyond that, might see if you have a local Snap-On dealer by you. Then again, their price with sales tax (or don't you have such) might be as much as a shipping charge.

RE possibilities if still want to get a low-rider jack: check Griots Garage; they have one with a 2.75" lifting pad height.

Sears works best for me, and had one for about 10 years too. Most important is backing up the jack with jack stands that I also purchased at Sears. None of my cars are lowered, but if you are looking for probably the absolute finest of jacks, try:

Mark,

Costco has carried a low profile jack (Wayne & John @TPS have one) that I think is around $300. Griot's sells one for $600. Check this website

for info on the AC Hydraulics jacks.

Check the archives, I was in on a group buy last year (in December). I believe the company name was
'Big Roc Tools' located in California. The group buy was for an aluminum 'racing jack'. The pad sits about 3" high and raises to 17" with about 6
pumps on the handle. I think the GB price was $250
+ about 25 for shipping. Hope that helps. <img src="graemlins/wave.gif" border="0" alt="[byebye]" />

Thanks for the tip mo. After looking at all the options I finnaly decided to fork over the dough for the AC jack at Ontools.com. They have free shipping on orders over $99.

The sears jack I have currently will not work after I install the PSS-9 system and lower my car by about 2.5". Hence the reason I needed a low profile jack.

Thanks guys,
Mark S.

Gene,
I did a search and can't find anything on your jack and the group buy. Can you point me there or to the company you got the jack from?
Thanks.. Jim

245.70 delivered for a DK20Q is a *darned* fine price. I ran a couple of group purchases here for these, which were about that price (they included a pad, which ontool doesn't).

Spend the extra 45.70 for this one, you won't regret it.

Jim,
Try <a href="http://www.brtools.com" target="_blank">www.brtools.com</a>

If that doesn't help, e-mail me at Gph993@Hotmail.com and I'll dig out my invoice to get you a contact.

Jim,

I found more info on the Aluminum Jack. Contact
Grace at 626-280-9393.
I was a bit off on the price. The jack was $365
Shipped from CA to OR. Weight is about 1/2 (35 lbs) of the AC.
