Default FVD Brombacher | Part Focus | 993 | Steering Wheel Frame Bushing Repair Set

Is your horn blaring when you encounter undulations in the road surface? Often times that means that the bushings in your steering wheel frame are worn out which causes the frame to touch the horn contacts.

These repair bushings offer a simple replacement solution to alleviate those headaches. They are manufactured in Europe by an OEM supplier to Porsche and offer the same rubber shore density as your originals.

The repair bushings also address the supersession issue on early 993 models. The early 993 models had a frame with part # 993 347 088 00 that was superseded to part # 993 347 088 01 which no longer supports the early airbag forcing you to purchase an expensive new hub and steering wheel.

993 + 993 Turbo Steering Wheel Frame Bushing Repair Set | Part # 993 347 088 01LA | Details…

Hi Rhonda,
Looks like a nice item. I went to your website and my only question is about price.
Is this solution $69 for one bushing or $69 for a kit of four as there are other less expensive solutions to the horn honking problem?

Very sorry but we have distributorships that provide regional services, so FVD Brombacher North America can only sell to clients within North America, etc. Please contact Autohaus Hamilton in Australia to purchase a set, here is a link to our distributor contact page….

Two questions on this, is it difficult to push out or install these bushings? Last time I had this apart it was not obvious that the bushings could even be removed. Second, my issue is that the horn is hard to activate, i have to push very hard to make contact. Will this solve that problem?

Thank you.

There are some homegrown solutions with rubber bushings and whatnot. It's possible, or likely, that someone has addressed this in your car before and maybe made it too stiff. The bushings referenced in this post are to cure an issue with the horn pushing too easy.

I checked with our shop in Germany for you. They use a press tool to remove and replace the bushings.

As PFDGSB mentioned, perhaps yours have already been replaced with a greater density rubber which is causing the horn to be difficult to operate. Our bushings correct the issue of the horn honking constantly if you lightly touch it or if you go over an undulation in the road surface.
