Product Endorsement - Motive Power Bleeder

Wow! Brake bleeding clinics, auto-x's, DE's,...this place is awesome! I'm doing the GreenFlag event on Sunday, but haven't committed to anything Saturday...my sister & fiance are coming down, so I may need to convince 'em that these REALLY are the ONLY things to do in Monterey
Even if I don't run in the event I'll come out to check it out for a while!
I'd like to learn how to bleed my brakes as well (only done it once on my Acura - didn't go so well).

Why don't you all just mosey on up to Michigan and we'll get a few more p-cars done. Hell, bring some empties and cash them in when you get here at $0.10 each to pay for the trip (a la Kramer...)

Dealer want 200+ to flush the brakes! Think I might have him cancel and di it myself. Question is, what to do with the old brake fluid? Can you put it in the bottle and return it where you bought it (with reciept) like you can with motor oil? What do other people do with it, I do not want it sitting in my garage!
One last Q which I am sure has been answered, but here goes anyway, how much fluid do you need to do the job?

I think that Kim and I were the only people who were going to get their brakes bled. With Kim's car on jack stands, and my car still in the shop for turbo replacement, we won't have any cars to bleed!!!!!
I'll give you an update towards the end of the week on the status of my car. Hopefully, it'll be back by this weekend.

Since I just did mine and Jeff/Kim are temporarily out of comission, why not reschedule for another day?
The only drawback is the rest of June is pretty much booked unless we could do it on a weeknight.
It's really a pretty simple procedure. I'm happy to loan the Power Bleeder to anyone who's interested in doing their own.

About 1 liter. I always have an extra liter on hand since running out is a pita. After the cost of the brake fluid & a new Motive bleeder you'll still have saved enough the first time for a nice dinner, not to mention the satisfaction of being one with your car's fluids

Actually I did a quick bleed this weekend (and installed Pagid Oranges) in preparation for Thunderhill this Friday <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" /> <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" /> <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />
Should have contacted you boys, but it was late Monday night, and it was unplanned change (fluid was still good, but I just wanted to be sure - with Pagid Oranges and all).. I'll try to let you guys know next time in advanced!
In addition, I'll be trying track wheels for the first time (Kuhmo Victoracers) - Can't wait. With the tires, pads and hot lap timer, I think I'm totally set...
Reason for my post? I normally only used 1 liter of ATE Super blue, but always cut it close on the last caliper (driver-side front) - not the best caliper to do a marginal bleed. This time I used 2 liters and bled the rears 150ml per side, (tota1 300per rear caliper) and 250ml per front side (tota1 500ml for each front caliper). In addition, I lightly tapped each caliper with a mallet to remove adhered air bubbles, etc...
Outcome is spectacular!!! Bleed can definitely be done with 1 liter, but with 2 liters, my brakes feel exceptional, much better than doing a 1 liter job.. Just my humble opinion...

Have fun at Thunderhill this Friday, Oleg
Are you planning of going there again in July for the Tracquest event? Kim, Jeff and I are planning of going.
Guys, does this mean that we won't be going to Jeff's place this Sat?

How do you guys use the Motive Bleeder?
Do you push air into the brake system to first get rid of all of the old BF, then fill the empty Reservoir with fresh BF?
Or just add the new to the old?

Suck out as much old as you can from the MC - I use a (dedicated) plastic turkey baster. I then refill the MC w/new fluid before attaching the Motive - I think it helps reduce possibility of introducing air into the system (maybe I'm wrong).
See no benefit to air flushing the system & great likelihood of compromising your bleeding.
