Default Suspension Upgrade

I know this hase been discussed ad nauseum, but could someone give me some indication here, no need for lengthy replies, just one or the other. I need to decide between the RoW M030/Bilstein HD's or H&R/Bilstein HD. I don't want the car lowered too much (I like to see the top of the tire juuust a bit) so getting it "slammed" is not what I'm going for - handeling is my #1 concern. Also, don't mention the Pss9's. Can't justify spending that much so they're not an option.

So my question is, which setup will give a stiffer ride and handle better ? Thanks in advance guys.

The M030 will not lower the car as much as the H&R, and are original Porsche parts (if that's important to you). People seem satisfied with both from what I recall. Someone chime in here if I'm incorrect. Just writing off memory.

EDIT: looks like this was answered while I was typing this!

What's the price difference between the set-ups above and the PSS9? Last I looked, which was a while ago, it wasn't all that much.

luke- I went through the same thought process about 6 months ago. All the advice I got from here and as well as the local shops said go with the ROW set-up if it will primarly be street driven. I went with the ROW and could not be happier. Ride height is great, handling is amazing and the ride is still good. Just my $.02

Cool....Thanks Dan.

Greg H. - I believe it's about a $1000 difference.

Agro1,

What year & model of 993 are you putting these on and how is the car used? Based on your question of wanting to choose between the two options mentioned above I'd agree with Viken but depending on how you're using your car there may be other viable options.

95% street, 5% lawn mower Seriously though, it will mostly be driven on the street. But that does not mean poking around. It will be driven hard 90% of the time on the street. And then will see an occasional track day. I'd turn it into a dedicated track car if I had the time, but my work doesn't allow me that luxury anymore, waaaay too busy. I think the M030 is the way to go for my particualar needs.

Luke,

You will not be disappointed with ROW/M030.

H&R is quality product. But , IMHO, it just doesn't sit as well. I am biased towards a factory product, however, that may not have any value to you !!

Good Luck either way....and you know about b4 & aft pics right ??

Agro1,

Make sure you get the HDs with the extra threads or you're not going any lower with the M030 springs (just as an FYI I 'm recalling from previous threads...no personal experience with them).

Agro1,

I think you should recheck your $ numbers on the price of springs plus HDs, versus PSS-9s. When I did the numbers it was more like around a $400 difference. When you add the cost of the install, the corner balance, and the alignment, $400 looked like a pretty small number to me, so I went with the PSS-9s. And trust me... I'm called Mr. Cheapskate for good reason.

Luke...

The factory ROW springs will, in fact, drop the car 30mm. The extra thread Bilstein HD's allow for additional lowering !!!

Steve, aside from price differences, for what purpose did you go with the PSS-9's?

Viken,

A fair question. I went with the PSS-9s for the adjustability factor... I could experiment with them and get the best street ride/handling combo, and then stiffen them up for my ocassional track outing, when ride is not an issue. I also like the idea of a matched spring/shock "package", but I will also admit that a little of the "bling" factor probably snuck its way into my figuring. I like the idea that I've probably got all the spring/shock combo I'll ever need, no matter what I do with the car. There may also be a small "resale" advantage, but I hope to never have to sell my car.
