wheel offset question
What direction does the wheel and tire move as the ET number gets higher(ie:50vs55 or 70). I know this is in the archives but I can't find it. THANKS!

I believe offset as measured by Porsche is measured from the rear. So as the offset increases 50 - 55 - 70 the wheel would move inwards. Less offset would move them outwards (deeper dished look).
I think... I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Chris' conclusion is right. Imagine looking at your rim through the tread and imagine a vertical line that would separate equally the inner half from the outer half of the rim. The amount of offset is the distance from this center line toward the flange on the rim which mates onto the hub. 70mm offset, then, means the rim's mating surface is closer to the outside of the rim than a wheel with a 55mm offset; thus the 70mm rim will reside more inward within the wheelwell than the wheel with the 55mm offset. Hope that wasn't too confusing.

A pic is worth, well, a lot of words sometimes
