Default Odd Running Lights Problem and Solution

Backed out of the garage early this a.m. to go to a C&C down in Pinehurst only to discover that my right side (front and rear) running lights were not on however, they would burn when I turned on the right turn signal but would go out as soon as I returned the stalk. Putting the headlight switch in "parking" or "headlights" made no difference. I happened on the solution by accident: I pressed on the center of the headlight switch **** and, lo and behold, the running lights came on. Repeated pressing and checking validated the fix. Apparently, the contacts inside the switch had oxided and just needed a little "persuasion".

Maybe hose the switch out with a little spray electronic/electric motor cleaner to improve general conductivity in the switch?

As you may know, leaving the turn signal depressed upon turning off the car - left or right - will result in the corresponding side parking lights staying on after the car is turned off. My understanding this is used to "mark" the car at night on narrow streets.

Yep, "Speedy", knew that. It was my "test" to determine that it wasn't something so simple as a burned out bulb. That's when I started suspecting the switch and found that pushing on the **** must've cleaned the contacts.

\Maybe a dumb? but is it difficult to pull a switch apart -simple as sliding off a ****?
Mark the car like bread crumbs to grand ma's house?
