Or to cut or Not?
First off no comments on keeping the car stock - it is mine to do with as I wish! I think that is part of the joy of owning a car.
Now that that is settled,
I received this kit, and along with a factory wide rear bumper, I plan to fatten the rear of my cab to S / Turbo girth. Thanks to this list I have decided not to paint the car myself, and I believe that I also have all the other considerations for a wider-er body handled.
Now here is the question, the ducts on the rear flares, keep them or not?
Should I cut the rear fender arch to make the ducts functional, or just patch / cover the whole, hole? I do not want "fake" ducts on my car, so it is all or nothing.
Has anyone seen / own a car with a full Strosek conversion?
Do the ducts work - or did they just fake them?
Any big cons to having working duct work to the rear engine / brake area? ( I think a mesh screen might be in order ect . .)
Thanks!
Tom

Tom,
I saw this kit on Ebay too for $250. I lost the bid but contacted the person who won and he said he was very happy with it. He only put on the side skirts. You can check out some pics from these websites.

I don't like the rear ducts. IMHO it doesn't flow with the lines of the car. I was going to buy just the side skirts.

Ok, it is not a factory wide bumper, and you are not fattening the rear to S/Turbo girth. You had me confused there for a minute
Since you are basically just adding sideskirts, (and eliminating the bumperettes with the euro rear bumper), I would skip the air ducts. IMO they don't look that great, and you would have to chop a hole in your original fenders to make them functional. I'm wondering, will the skirts themselves fit properly at the rear, or do you HAVE to use the triangular scoop piece to fill in a gap??
here's a picture:
I was at a shop of a west coast Strosek distributor, and the fit and finish looked top notch compared to some fiberglass body kits.
I don't know if it was the quality of the Strosek panels, or the craftsmanship of the bodyman.....maybe a bit of both![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
good luck,

Please don't do it. No offense, but Strosek kits are an eyesore. Not much can be improved upon with the 993's basic look, certainly not with Strosek.

I think what would look great on a 993 cab would be a conversion of the fenders to the C2/4S width and the sid skirts of the C2/4S body - that is, basically, a c4/c2s cab, whcih they never made or I woudl have bought one. Does anyone know if the front fenders on the S cars are wider as well, or is it just the rears? Is the kits referred to above, or in the original post, an S body kits that can be used on cabs (I am not interested in the strosek stuff to Vegas art deco for me.)

i'm with barry. also, i believe the frnt fenders are the same width, as the turbo bumper fits our narrow bods. as for me, i'll leave my narrow body narrow. i just want to lighten my cab up to bare essentials & beef up the hp's a bit.

Tom, I don't know if this would help, but every year at Hershey we have the only Strosek 968 cab built attend the 968 Reunion and Porsche Swap Meet. From what I remember the fellow had Strosek design it, and he built it at his bodyshop with the parts Strosek supplied. It's speed yellow with strosek color matched wheels, shaved doors with no handles, rear fender brake ducts, different front valence, etc. Send me a pm if you want me to get his email address for you, I'll be seeing him next Friday.
