Body Shop Q? and Part Question?
Does anyone in the St.Louis area know of a good Body Shop for Porsches, I want to have a RS spoiler and front splitters installed by someone who works on P cars.
I also have a question on a door part that I need to replace when you open the drivers side door there is a black plastic peice just above the door hinges. It is about 3" long and 1" wide. It has one screw in it. Mine is cracked slightly from an overtightened screw. This almost sounds like a riddle it will probally be just as hard to figure out what I am describing but I will give it a shot anyway. I need a good replacement part company I guess would be the easiest way. Thanks

The popular weights are 0w40 and 15w50. I've used both and haven't noticed any difference. However, in Califorinia, it doesn't ever get "really" hot, or "really" cold.

Yes, but you've got your beefy Cargraphic Aux Oil Cooler already installed. Turning the AC on for you will actually increase the oil cooling capacity! That sounds like a WIN/WIN to me!
I'm almost done with my oil fan switch install. I just have to clean up some wiring. I'll post a picture when it's all completed.
Last time at thunderhill, it got up to 104 and there weren't any major problems ( besides my alternator belt! )

I'd recommend getting a PET ( Porsche Electronic Technik? ) CD. It's the same CD that the dealers use to look up part numbers. There's tons on information on it. The UI is a bit clunky ( ie, you have to use 1280x1024 ) and you have to be careful in your navigation, but once you get used to it, it's fine.
They come up on eBay from time to time, along with the service manuals on CD. The service manuals on CD are not worth getting at all. Both these CD's violate all sorts of copywrite laws, btw.
If you would like me to send you a "backup" copy that I have, send me a private email and I'll get those out to you next week.
As far as online parts suppliers, www.pelicanparts.com and www.suncoastporsche.com are good sites to start out with. Dealers are usually more expensive.

I can't believe the plastic part is so expensive that mail order shipping will be justified. Take the old part to Plaza or Parktown (314-965-7711 ask for Gary) & buy a new one. If it's not in stock, they can get it in a few days.
Autohaus BMW's body shop (314-646-7755 ask for Jeff) does most of Parktown's body work & is excellent. Just had them do collision repairs on my wife's A6 & they did a great job. Plaza has its own body shop which is also excellent. However, both are expensive.
I use M1 15/50 all year (freezing to 100+ degrees), as does Parktown's service department. Extensive oil weight discussions in the archives.

GTR,
That little plastic piece you're describing is cheap. I replaced mine (also cracked by PO) and it was under $10, though this was some time ago. I had to call around but someone actually had them in stock. Sorry I don't have a p/n. :
