Default Q about adding Digital Sound Pkg

i have factory Hi Fi sound w/CDR-210 and am happy w/sound( only use for low volume fill and news ( but like adding factory options to my car).

would like to know if this is an easy change

are the wires there already

can i use my head unit

are the only two extra items needed a controler and amp?

what is a win -win price for the needed items

If you are looking for the amp and DSP controller, I have them at a great price.

Dr. Ken,

This might have been covered with a PCNA service bulletin some time back. I'll check when I get home tonight. If I remember correctly, The wires are already there and you just cut out the plastic in the door storage area for the controller. You should only expect marginally improved sound from the digital sound package over what you already have.

Doc:

Like Laurier said, you need the Nokia DSP amp and the DSP controller. Need to knock plastic panel behind rubber cover in the driver side door compartment for the DSP controller location. Car is pre-wired.

Ken:

It took me about 20 minutes to install mine. Like Pram stated above, you simply replace the amp located under the passenger seat and attach the control unit to the armrest. To do this you lift up the driver door storage bin cover, remove the rubber pad that covers the shallow pocket towards the very front of the bin, and cut carefully to expose the receptacle that plugs into the control panel. You then pop the panel into place.

I bought my digital sound package new-out-of-the-box from Suncoast Porsche for $79 - the original price was north of $1,900. I can't really tell the difference in sound quality.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions on installation. Good luck!

Dr. Ken,

I found the retrofit installation bulletin. Not much in it you would not figure out on your own. I'll scan it and e-mail it to you.

Ken,

Did you get the installation instructions? Even at $149 it still may be worth it. Please let me know how it works out. The option race is on!

so regarding the options race, are you going to be looking for a 4wd conversion set up?
