GT2 at an autocross (OT)
It's a bit off topic, but maybe I won't get flamed for it
At an autocross on Saturday we were suprised by an entry for the afternoon run session - a nice 996 GT2. The puddle of drool that formed around the car as a bunch of guys tried to look cool and only semi-impressed as they "casually" walked by and checked it out on the grid was pretty fun.
I didn't get to see him run much as he was right behind me, but did get a chance to watch when I got a rerun due to a timing problem. Incredible begins to describe it. An the straight where I got into 3rd gear and was doing 75 or so, he had to be well over 120 mph. He beat the pants off every other car by more than 0.6 seconds. The stock 996 turbo wasn't even close to his time (but I think the turbo had street tires).
I thought it was fun and an impressive display of what a "track car" can do at an autocross. I never expected to see a car like that there.
