Default Who supplies OEM paint to Porsche?

Just curious who the paint supplier(s) is/are for factory Porsche paint? I will be painting a split grill in the next week with a bodyshop who uses Sikkens and was wondering if this is comparable paint to the factory? I have heard very good things about Glasurit paint as well. TIA

I believe it is 'Glasurit", but I might be mistaken.

I think Neil is correct, but my understanding is that BASF makes the pigments...

Ah, I finally have an excuse to post this photo. This is how the paint arrives at the factory. I took this shot in November, right in front of the main gate in Zuffenhausen.

JDoc7,

If you're concerned, you can ask them to order and use a bottle of factory paint. A few years back I added an aero kit to my BMW and the body shop gave me a choice of mixing the color themselves to match or order a bottle of the factory color.

I chose to go with the factory paint. It took a week to get the paint but I didn't want to take the risk of having a slight mismatch in paint. I don't recall that much of a price difference.

Thanks,
Peter

i have never heard of getting a bottle of actual factory paint as mentioned above. who would you ask for this?

also has anyone been able to read the stickers on the photos to get the brand name?

it is always a debate @ paint store as to who and what the original paint used is on these cars.

i think they may change brands @ times and have paint we cant necessarily get in the usa. like different formulas for the same colors.

if you ever paint say, your front bumper, and try to research what paint to use to match factory(not just color) it is usually turns out to be a mystery

so any information on porsche paint would be useful

Your authorized dealership should be able to order it for you if you want an exact match. I would assume that's who the body shop would go to. It's not a big deal. I would assume most manufacturers offer this. BMW and Mercedes do for sure because I've had first hand experience.
