Default Goodbye to all my Rennlist friends

I have just sold my 993 after 12 years of ownership. It was sad to see it go as I loved that car. I did the majority of the maintenance myself and was very attached to it. It was a very hard decision but I have a new project that I am starting, a 1935 Ford convertible which I am going to hot rod, and I do not have the time to take care of the 993. So instead of seeing it deteriorate I though it be better to get a new good home for the 993 that will take the good care it deserves.
I will miss you all as I had made good friends in this forum. Thanks to the help and postings of my fellow members I was able to do all the work on my Porsche. I made several postings on fixes I made to my 993, I hope they helped other members. I will continue to peruse the forum and if I can I will help anyone that needs help.
Thank you so much
Roberto

Thank you Abiaziz for the car compliment. The car is in pristine condition probably a good #2 condition with 42,000 miles. I did all the maintenance myself of course with the help of the forum members which I will always be grateful to. I like more working on the cars than driving them. I drove the 993 1,666 miles in 12 years. I know that is crazy but I derived all my enjoyment working on the car rather than driving it. Four years ago I bought a 1959 Corvette Fuel Injection 290hp all original that took me three years to restore to new condition. I have driven the Vette about 400 miles. I also have an extremely rare 1957 Victoria German motorcycle that was a two year project. So I ran out of projects to do. The Porsche, The Victoria and the Vette have nothing else to be done to them as they are in pristine condition.
So two months ago I bought a 1935 Ford convertible which I plan to change the engine, transmission, rear end , brakes and more. It is a very big project that is going to keep me busy for a year and I am starting next month. That will be my finale as I am retired and old and I will be traveling a lot with my wife.

Regards

Roberto

My New Project.

Will have a SBC 350 Ci/350 HP fuel injection, 4L60E automatic transmission w OD, 9 In Ford rear end with 3.7 gear ratio differential, 12 in Lincoln power drum brakes, A/C. Quite an ambitious project, me and my friend will be doing all the work. This should keep me busy and out of trouble for a while.

^Very cool! I wonder what it's like to drive, I've never driven old American. Would love to and maybe own something one day.

Perhaps you should return to this thread once and a while with updates and pictures.

Storonto,
A Porsche and a Corvette or for that matter the 1935 Ford are completely different beasts. You can not compare them as one being better than the other. It is what you like. They are both great marvelous and beautiful machines. Some people like Porsches other Corvettes or American muscle cars. It is your preference. Having owned the 993 and the 1959 Vette I can tell you that they are different but I loved both. MY 1935 Ford is going to be a hot rod, so a new totally different experience. I personally like to tinker with the cars more than driving them, to each its own. So I am looking forward to the Ford project.
My problem is that I do not have the space in my house to keep all the cars so , to my regret, I had to sell the Porsche. I loved that car as much as I loved the Corvette and the Ford.
The big difference with these cars is that the Porsche is a high maintenance car, at least my experience, Every time I took the car for a ride something broke. And believe me my 993 was in top pristine condition as I did all the maintenance work. The old American cars are very simple and have very few complicated things to break.
That said have one of each if you can you will love it. When I start the 1935 Ford projects I will post the progress in this forum and see if there is any interest. If there is I will continue posting.

Regards

Roberto

Absolutely agree that you can't compare them, one is not better than the other. I have a couple old 911s and new ones. I look at all this stuff for the experience they offer. The experience can be everything from visual to driving feel. For what they have and for what they don't have. I grew up watching hot rod shows about 25-30 years ago, loved just watching them fix up cars and such. It was all american cars back then. I also enjoy Jay Lenos Garage (the YT show, not TV), the history and old stuff he showcases. I think I'm more interested in going backwards than forwards. Though I have new stuff and appreciate that too. But they all offer their own experience and depending on the task at hand or mood, you choose appropriately.

I've got to get out to meets and such that focus on older American stuff. Want one at some point.
