Default Can 996 Litronics be adapted to a 993?

So ... the aftermarket xenon kits are illegal now, as I recall. I have a pair of factory Litronic lights from a 996. Has anyone investigated whether it's possible to adapt (i.e., butcher) these and install them in a 993 headlight? I imagine the ballast and the bulb could be taken out of the plastic headlight unit, as these lights are frequently stolen and adapted to other cars on the black market (and yes I have the receipt for them!).

vjd,

It probably can be done. I would think that the ballast and igniter are the same for a 996 or 993, but you will probably need to replace the lamps (bulbs). The HID aftermarket kits for the 993's included lamps that were custom made to fit in a H1 socket. I doubt if the 996's are like this.

But, with a little homework I'm sure you can find a high quality aftermarket 4300 H1 kit from Canada or Auto Lamps On-Line in the UK. I believe others have dome it recently. Do a search under "HID Kits".

You may post a thread specifically to the guys to see who has bought a H1 kit recently and what their source was.
