Default How I secured the child seat

So my daughter loves riding in the 993 but those non isofix seats don't like hard cornering when only held on by the seat belt. So I rewired it.
First thing, I carved out a foam block to eliminate the gap between child seat and back rest. I had 2 old laptop bags laying around so I cut the belts off and riveted the ends on each side to the child seat's side support and purchased a buckle to feed both ends together behind the passenger seat.
The belt ends with the clips were riveted to the bottom of the booster seat and fed through the back of the passenger seat. I fab'd 2 flat stock metal pieces and mounted them on the lower motor mounts for the seat adjustment. So now I can hook and unhook the lower belts and tighten them as needed.
The difference between before and after is amazing. The child seat holds firmly in place, no swinging to either side during driving.
Best thing, if my daughter falls asleep, I can lower the back rest of the passenger seat while the back support of the child seat moves with it.

Hi Eck,
Just like the grown-up seat belts, I would not rely on the strength of the seatback to restrain the occupant during a collision.
The only thing holding the seatback in place is the latch.
On my car under the rear window shelf cover is a bolted-in strap loop, interesting the car seems to have come from the factory this way. A hole can be made in the shelf cover so the bolt head and loop are on top of the shelf. For the child seat to truly function, I would run the top rear seat tether from the child seat back to this loop not relying on the flimsy seat latch to protect the child occupant.

I am assuming/hoping you are using the factory 3-point belt to secure your child in the seat and this set-up is only to keep the seat from sliding. As Andy politely noted, the factory seat back will do nothing to restrict forward motion on impact. Also need to disable passenger airbag.

I used a Britax booster in the rear seat for many years until my daughter turned 12.

Thank you for your concern.
of course I'm always using the seatbelts to secure my daughter when we take trips.
I just wanted to show you my way of securing the child seat from moving around.
Also beneficial, the child seat remains in place when I drive alone.

I started a post several times in relation to this, deleted it and came back. All I can say is my child would be in the back.

Thanks for sharing. I have 3 kids so one is always in the front. Will need to try this!
