Cassette Holder to CDs
Guys-
I've read all the posts on replacing the cassette holders in the center piece...
Is there any non-porsche maker of a CD holder that can go into that space? We all agree that $269 is stupid for the OEM piece - I dont care if it is made by Walmart or Target, etc. Or is there a CD holder that can clip on to the $10 porsche empty box space that is a better buy.
thanks,
=r

I think I'm okay in posting this pic from Type 911 UK , as I don't believe an equivalent item is offered by a Rennlist sponsor:
They also sell a nifty cupholder:
Can't vouch for fit or finish, as I don't own either.

I have the cupholder and aluminum button surrounds in front of the shifter from the above mentioned site. And they are better quality than the original peice. The conversion factor for sterling to US dollars: Multilply US dollars x 1.441. The cupholder or CD unit is about $40.00. Just a note the dealer wanted $275.00 for a holder that was plastic and poor quality. I think you will be satisfied with their products.

I have the small tray that fits my sunglasses well in my car but a possible solution to carrying CD's is the 20 CD folder by our friends at VW, it is very well made product and if fits between the drivers seat and the door sill. I have had mine for some time and can't think of a better solution. This is not one of those cheap vynil sleeved units that melts to the CD on a hot day. It is worth looking into.
BTW, only 14.95

You remove your cassette holder that is held on by two screws on the bottom, and insert the cupholder the holes are predrilled and it comes with a new set of screws, after you screw it down there is a rubber mesh type mat inside of the holder that covers the screws, the installation takes about 5 minutes tops. On a scale of 1-10 for difficulty I would say it's a 1.

Thanks GTR993. I was afraid it might just be double-stickied to the top of the utility tray ... visions of the tray being lifted with the coffee cup.

You will be very pleased with their products, the cupholder has 2 size holes in it for different cups also, I admit I was a little worried about the quality but everything I have purchased from them has been top notch.
