Mine was out too. Just replaced it, also fixed alignment of icon.

Great find OP. If anyone is wondering, the same bulb works for the light above the ignition and the ashtray light.

Great. You opened a can of worms. I didn't know that there is a light in the ashtray. I'll check. My car has no provision for a light above the ignition switch. I checked yesterday and found that my cars headlight switch bulb is not working. Looks like I have some OCD work ahead....Lol

Good luck on the ashtray light. Like playing 'Operation' if you don't have a magnetic tipped screwdriver.

Thanks for the pics! I was trying to pry out the top plate at first but after seeing your pics I realized it's the whole cover. Anyhow, not sure how long my light bulb has been out, replaced with another halogen and happy with it now!

I had to trim the steps on the sides of the LED in order to make it inside the bulb hole. No big deal.

I hope someone will clarify a concern regarding the headlight switch. Post nine displays removing a different part of the headlight switch compared to posts fourteen and twenty-one?
Thank you in advance

Both work. You can pull the entire switch straight off. Or pry out the center plastic with the logo. I'm going to guess the switch only has so many "pulls" on/off before the plastic "catches" that hold it on breaks. For that reason, some might prefer prying out the center.

Either method will give access to the bulb in question.

Pull the entire switch off as in post 21. This exposes enough of the bulb to even pull it out with fingers. When you put it back on, there is only one way it will fit.

If you pull just the cover (to fix the orientation of the bulb icon), you will need thin needle nose pliers to grab the bulb.

That was a very satisfying $3 fix. I didn't even realize there was a bulb there.

I used the method on post 9. The inner cover comes off easily - it's about the size of a dime. Buy the light bulb on amazon. I think they were $5 for a two pack.

Good luck.

Here's another light that needs replacing. The center console lights. Not the switch light, but the warning part above the switches. Here is the part number but almost no info on it. Found this guy who might have it. No way to replace bulbs themselves. Soldered on (I guess I could do that but I'm not big on soldering). Anyone replaced this? All three of my bulbs are out

If you actually want to try your hand at soldering, you can replace the individual bulbs. I'm not great at soldering but just watched a few youtube videos and all went well. Ordered bulbs from Mouser.com part no. 606-CM7646 for about $2.50 each. Did this ~10yrs ago and all the bulbs still work fine today.

Nice! Why not! Maybe I'll give it a crack. Simple enough to play with and can't screw it up anymore! Thanks!

If you are a little adventurous, Tore sells an LED retrofit kit.
