Default Fister Stage 2 drone at 3k rpm - exhaust leak?

Current setup:

Fabspeed sport exhaust with 200 cel cats mated to the Fister Stage 2 mufflers and big oval tips.

Love the Fister mufflers but I am getting a drone at around 3k rpm when cruising. Would an exhaust leak on the cat to muffler cause this?

Car sounds fine at idle and great under throttle, just when under part throttle cruising it makes a drone noise, that seems to be rather annoying.

Have done any other changes recently like motor mounts or more specifically your trans mount?

The clamps that hold the Fabspeed pipes (from the X to the cats) were not fully secured on my car and I had a small leak that is now gone. The clamps felt tight but I caught a puff of smoke on a cold startup coming from that area and checked further (because I video my starts occasionally) and found that tiny leak which also altered the sound. I’m new to this so take that for what it’s worth.

PO did motor mounts, so about 2000 miles ago. Not sure on trans mount.

Ok if a small exhaust leak will create this I will go ahead and redo the connections.

I believe any exhaust combination thats going to increase flow and how loud the exhaust is over all will create a bit of drone. Only way for it to completely disappear is to build your
own form of PSE (Porsche Sport Exhaust) with exhaust flaps. Some have detailed their builds in the forum. Adding a aftermarket flap solution.

Give it sometime. I think you'll get use to it. I regretted going to Fister 3's at first from 2's, because I was starting to hear a little drone. I'm use to it now. You could insulate the rear parcel behind the rear seats if its driving you nuts.

This is somewhat true, drone is also extremely subjective and changes from individual/individual.

Installing a valved cat-back will give you the ability to toggle your tone from stock-ish to a deep aggressive tone. The best of both worlds in many ways.

I had the Maxflows with the Fab headers (with heat) and the Fab reflashed DME Motronic, and I got the same drone right around 3,000 rpm. I hated to do it, but I took off the Maxflows and hooked up the original Gillet units to the Fab headers and still have a good sound, but no more drone.

Decided it was just the engine note and if I go on long boring drives at 3k rpm i will just roll
up the windows 🤘
