Default Carfax is a metric - end of story

Agreed. .. Carfax marketing has done a fine job fanning the widespread belief the accident aspect of its database product is "gospel" .. Not by a long shot! .. Carfax data has its moments, however, it ain't no burning bush.
An additional metric is insurance policy data, the egistance is typically handcuffed to the VIN. .. A database Risk Management firm such as LexisNexis has such VIN data. .. Phat chance engauging LexisNexis privately unless your sister's boyfriend's cousin's nextdoor neighboor has an in with LexisNexis. .. Again just another metric or spoke in the wheel when the vehicle is mute.

AutoCheck is another resource/tool that can aid you in your purchase decision.

No affiliation. Got a free single trial last year. It actually noted the 2-year lease (first) driver that CarFax missed on my 993’s owner history. They also have a scoring system. It’d be interesting to see the scores some rennlisters get for their pristine 993’s.
