Default Melbourne, FL gathering 4/10

Hey guys and gals,

There will be a meet for any Space Coast locals to join on this Saturday at 2PM. We are going to meet on the corner of 5th avenue and I-192 parked beside the beach. Any and all are welcome to join, we will meet, maybe get a bite to eat and go for a cruise!

Directions: take 192 East until you get to the beach!

Hope everyone that's in the area can make it!

I'd love to be there, but will be out of town for the Easter holiday.

Are you planning to do the Tax Day Rally with the PCA group the next weekend?

Haven't heard about it Chris, when/where/what please I most likely won't be able to make it though, as the semester is about to wrap up, I'm leaving Melbourne, and I have someone in Tampa I have to go visit that weekend. If I can squeeze it in though, I might just go.

Sounds like fun, but I will be in Key West fishing on saturday. I will be at the SCCA autox, cfrsolo2.com in Palm Bay on the 17th and 18th it would be nice to see some Porsche's out there besides my 993 and a 951.

Pete, is that at the usual location? At the Palm Bay campus of BCC? How much is that... if there are two DE/AutoX events that weekend, I'd be stupid to miss BOTH. Isn't it only ~$15 for the Auto-X? I can't remember... are helmets required? I've only been to it once, and that was with my school and the FSAE car (which obviously required a helmet!)

It's on the 18th, starting about 2:30. We're going to end up at Cafe Coconut Cove for dinner about 5:30. Give Dan Cleary at the Werkshop a call; he usually has details on the local PCA events -- (321) 724-2059.

This is PCA, so I'm guessing I have to be a member or pay a fee or something, right? I think I'd be willing to go if it isn't unreasonable, sounds like a blast! How far away is the Cafe Coconut Cove?

It's organized by the local PCA chapter, and if you're not a PCA member that explains why you didn't hear about it. Not sure if non-PCA members are welcome too. The group is pretty laid back, so I don't think there would be a problem. You do need to let the group know you're coming though, for the dinner reservation. Dan at the Werkshop can hook you up there. I hear it's loads of fun; we weren't able to make it last year.

PCA membership is $42 per year, and includes a subscription to the Panorama magazine. Check out the PCA web site for more info. Our local group tries to get together at least once per month. Last month we did a show at a Polo match down in Vero; had about 40 cars there. A group is going up together to the Rennsport Reunion in Daytona in a couple weeks too.

Cafe Coconut Cove is South Melbourne Beach, a few miles north of Aquarina, if I remember correctly. Great German food, right on the river.

Kevin

You need a helmet but they have free loaners and also a novice program which I am in. I believe it is $20 for SCCA members and $30 for non members. Saturday is a practice day and you usually get 8 to 10 runs depending on how many people show up. Sunday is for points and the price is the same as Saturday with usually 4 to 5 runs but you can get more depending on turn out. For tech inspection you need adequate tread on your tires, brakes, battery securely fastened, throttle return spring, and all loose objects removed from your car. If you go to the cfrsolo2 website they have a good novice handbook that will answer most of your questions. I know some Porsche ownersa feel that the SCCA is not fair to them in classing the cars but I didn't purchase my car to win SOLO2 events just to have fun. I would also run PCA AutoX but the nearest one is in Hollywood, Fl.

The location is the Police skid pad at BCC in Palm Bay, Fl.

Hi Peter,

Is there a web site that gives a calendar schedule for the Palm Bay autocrosses?

Chris

www.cfrsolo2.com Cheryl and Gerry Poindexter do a good job, and the website has a calender and directions to the site.

Hey, Pete... click on my name in my signature and check out my two "abusive" video clips... I haven't met a single person that doesn't get a chuckle out of the no-handed donuts. They are low-quality, but fun nonetheless. My point to all this, you might ask? Look at where they take place
