Default Whats up with Red?

I am trying to figure out why Guards Red has a bad rep on these threads. I read things like "Anything but Red" all the time, its a little disturbing. I have owned four p-cars in my life time, the last two being Guards Red. I think I like it the best but I do not dislike the others, I am just partial to the Guards Red. I think we must do a survey on Guards Red. Who likes it, who is not partial to it and who wants to ban it from the ranks. No hard feelings here, just curious.

I dunno.. I love my guards Red 96 993 (original owner) so I bought it on purpose in red... to me it was meant to be red... LOL

I think a lot of folks feel red is a cop magnet color or too much attention grabbing... funny thing is I never got pulled over driving my red Porsche but got pulled over driving my boring white 4 door infiniti g20 sedan (winter car)... and my recent 01 New Beetle (repacement winter car)

I get ignored OR just left alone by the police when in my red 993.. go figure! I think my speed yellow boxster s is just as great a color IMHO

This is my second Guards Red 911. For one thing it does not photograph well and alot of people have only seen Guards Red in pictures. Another is the ticket factor. It's percieved and I think it has been documented that red cars get more tickets. Regardless it is a classic Porsche color. It is a staple in the Porsche color chart. Has been for years. Many say that silver is the classic Porsche color but there have been so many silvers over the years that I don't know what silver is 'THE' Porsche silver. Whatever that color is Guards Red is right up there with it.

No problems here with Guards Red (or any red variant, for that matter)!

I love Guards Red! I think some people think it is too flashy. I don't. I think it's classy, as well as classic. My dream just happened to be in silver!

I'm on my second GR 993 here...I love the depth of the color and how it shines i sunlight. It is more "orangey" than the classic cherry red, maybe too much for some? It is a bright color on a car that already attracts a lot of attention...

Cop bait things is a myth in my 15 years driving red sports cars.

Just bought my first Porsche a couple weeks ago and it's Guards Red. I definately think the color is justified being that it is a Porsche. It's when you buy a red Chevrolet Cavalier that your choice of color should be in question.

I think its only for the "ticker factor" as mentioned by Randy M. All I can say is that my traffic attorney (yes, I have one) just asked me when I hired him: "It's not red is it?". Red is also one of the easiest colors to spot (by police) hence the high ticket incidence for the color. Just my $0.02

Just bought Gaurds Red C4S and love the color. I looked specifically for red with black interior. My other choice would be Speed Yellow.

I love guards red, I agree its classic. I just wanted to
maximize my ability to not be seen in a 400hp car.
so I avoided that color as well as Speed Yellow which I also
like very much. For me Gaurds Red=attention=cops=tickets=insurance
problems=not driving. So I had to go another color.

I think many are embarassed by the visual attention that red causes...the Gaurds Red is a beautiful red...it is FLASHY...plus make it loud, make it shoot flames...yeah it attracts attention.

The beauty and brilliance of the car is that it really looks cool in all the colors...and I am not trying to be politically correct here...its just a great shape that can carry any color.

But we all knew all this...

I love GR. My current 993 and 2 previous Porsches are Guards Red. 993's look great no matter the color. Local cops always wave to me as I pass...knock on wood!

Red is one of the three best Porsche colors even the 993s that are not in the top three look good .

I won't say what the top three are, I''ll leave that up to you .

Tell me you don't like guards red after seeing this

I was one of those anti guards until I saw it
So I understand where people are coming from when they say they don't want guards red. You need to see it in the flesh to appreciate it.
