Well, I got my first 911 (red) 3 weeks ago. I'm 38 years old and was pulled over for speeding at the weekend in it. I've never been stopped before !!!

I never got a ticket in my speed yellow 993....but in black BMW I once got 2 tickets in two days (I had only had the car for a week).

It might be perception, but I just realized that I don't see very many GR Boxsters in comparison to the other colors. In fact, I almost NEVER see GR boxsters, most are black or silver.

I just remembered a ticket story that is funny and relevant to the topic at hand.

I had a 1991 M5 that I just sold. About two years ago, my wife and I were driving to a football game in it and I get nailed with radar by a Tennessee Trooper. Not guys you want to mess around with, troopers are serious in TN.

Anyway, he comes up to the car, notifies me I was doing 85 in a 70 and then proceeds to ask me, "Is this a real M5?" Yes sir, it is. "Really, what year?" It's a 1991 sir. "A '91, huh? I didn't think they made them in the U.S. in '91?" Yes sir, they made them in the U.S. from 1991 to 1993, then stopped importing them but continued to make them in Europe through 1995. Those have even more horsepower "Really?" Yes sir. "Well, I'll tell you what, you watch the posted limit as we have construction going on around here and I'd hate for you to get a ticket speeding". Yes sir. "Have a nice day". You too, sir.

I couldn't believe it, but the trooper was so into my car that he let me go with just a verbal warning. I would not bet on that happening twice, however.

BTW, I have had two GR 911's owned for over eight years, never a ticket in one (knock on wood).

Kind of a follow-up on Robert's post. I have never received a speeding ticket despite being pulled over about five times by local police and state troopers in the last 17 years of driving. I find that showing remourse and contrition helps a great deal. I usually use the line "Sorry officer, I have no excuses, I wasn't paying attention and let the speed get away from me."

On the other hand, my wife was driving her father's SL600 when she was pulled over for going about 15mph over the limit. She was about 17 at the time. Her response to the officer was "you're really ruining my day." Needless to say, she got a ticket. That happened before we met, and I'm happy to report that she's not nearly the brat that line would suggest!
