photo of extra headlight light
as a result of taking some photos of my boxster and 993 at dusk, i noticed the 993 didnt have as nice a look w/the parking lights on, as the boxster.
one reason is that the parking lights on the 993 are all in the bumper and the headlights are dark.
on the 996's and boxster's the headlight has a third bulb in it that is part of the parking lights. that extra light in the headlight gives a nice look when only the parking lights are on.
so i decided to add extra bulbs to my 993 headlights to fill in the front end when the parking lights are on.
used two LED's per headlight. put them in the extra slots for the adjustment metering stick that is in the reflector. and wired them to a second fog light switch that i used to fill in the spare cut out area above the radio.
the four spots w/three ***** always bothered me and this gave a reason to add another switch (yes i know the hole is for rear fogs, but i dont have a need for them)

went to local electronics store and asked for the brightest small white LED's they had. were about $3.50 each plus a resistor to match the voltage.
they fit perfect in the small empty slot on the outside of the reflector
look like they came w/the car
and the dash looks better with all the **** holes filled

to late to post a how to w/photos, its done.
but pretty simple
remove headlight, take lens off housing(clean inside of glass while apart)
install two LED's in extra headlight adjustment marker stick slot on each side
add wire and run through headlight bulb replacement cover vent
run to area above radio (through hood cable hole)
pull radio(see robins site for this part)
install new fog light switch in the blank hole (looks very nice, you could just do this part and make an improvement in interior looks)
get power from radio hot wire (youre there, no need to go to fuse box)
when put back together you can remove the plastic icon buttons from the *****, tighten the ***** and reinstall the buttons w/the icons aligned (looks sano)

Looks good. Can you try another pic with different lighting? Did you consider powering them off the parking lights wiring in the front end to avoid running all that wire plus you'd have them come on whenever parking lights are on.

Neat idea. Here in Kalifornia, it is illegal to drive with just your parking lights on: it's headlights or nada.
I filled the spot with Gert's rear fog light switch to manually switch the oil cooler fan - very handy at speed events or summer traffic. Just wish I could find a fan insert to replace the light insert in the ****.
