Talking Harness thanks to PCNA

Just received a full reimbursement check from PCNA for all costs relating to recent total wiring harness replacement. Man, that buys lots of goodwill from this multiple P-car owner.
I think they showed class and appropriately responsible willingness to make a bad situation right.
Thanks to PCNA and to E.J.

Great news Tom. How long did you wait for the check from the time you sent it in?

E.J.,
I did want to clarify that I had already invested in a new harness prior to the "recall" and that the cost of parts and labor was right at $1,000. After having that harness replaced again at their expense, they anted- up for the initial repair. The check took three weeks to arrive. I hope it worked out for you before you said goodbye to der gelb wagen.

Tom, wow, they replaced your replacement harness and wrote you a check, thats a double repair for them. Good for you.

I sent my reimbursement package to them about 2 weeks ago and haven't heard a thing yet. Will let you know.

Tom,
I’m curious why they replaced your harness when it had already been replaced. My harness was replaced a couple of years ago and I’m a bit curious if they will have to do it again.

Thanks,
Tom

Tom,
Like you, I replaced the harness with whatever the current replacement harness was at the time...about 2 years ago. When I took it to the local dealer for the required inspection, they determined that the replacement ALSO was defective. Don't assume that your replacement was in fact the updated and correct harness.
Hope this doesn't cause too much dyspepsia.
Tom

Guess what was waiting for me at home today Tom? My reimbursement check. Full amount. Very happy.

As for the replacement harnesses being replaced, I think that is a function of the dealer only looking at the part number and not the date of manufacture as well. The updated TSB on my site shows the date to check for too. I would imagine all harnesses that have been replaced are fine, or else there wouldn't have been a cutoff of 1996 for the recall.

Either way, I am happy.

3rd owner on a 100K car - I don't even know how they tracked me down! I might bitch about the P-fish, but the way Porsche handled the wiring harness is very impressive.

Hats off to PCNA, great customer service
