I've done many runs with a G-Tech comparing 91 octane and 96 octane and found no difference in my '95 (low 70's at sea level). Regardless, of these results, I run 100 octane or a mix to give 95+ when at the track and the temps are over 80.

100 makes a VERY noticable difference to my car. It's nice.

I typically add 5 or 6 gallons of 100 to 10-12 gallons of 91 for DE's or other driving events. I do this because for a few reasons as 1) the factory asks for 93, 2) 11.3:1 CR, 3)although I can feel more power, I do notice smoother idle, higher quality throttle response and I hate the thought of detonation, especially since its tough to hear in a rear engine car more so being air cooled.

Since air cooled engines are not as temperature stable as liquid cooled, (especially cylinder head temps) I feel adequate octane levels are required. More so when demanding max performance in hot weather. FWIW

Great. Thanks guys. Lots of food for thought. Next hard drive I will try it and report back.
