Post Possible new cupholder for the 993

Was browsing the web for possible cupholders alternatives besides the ones already mentioned on this board. Here is an interesting site that might have another solution available for our cars. I don't know if the guy has already created one but it seems like he may have one available for the 993. It looks like it goes to the side of the center console near the front footwells. Also it will accomodate large cups (so it says). The price looks pretty good as well ($24.95+$5 shipping). Here is the link for the site:

http://www.ultimatecupholders.com/index.html

I have no connection to this website but am including it for info purposes.

By the way the guy wants some volunteers in the DC area to test a prototype for the 993, so hopefully anyone in that area can sigh up as well and help get one made for us 993 guys!

Hmmm, not bad...but nah!! I'm sold on the VW cupholder! Except for the price, they're perfect for the 993 - whoever figure out these would fit on our cars is a genius!

the Audi cupholders are pretty cool too, but I just like the fact that you can stick big gulps and 1 liter bottles in these cups made by ultimate cupholders. I get really thirsty sometimes and that 32 oz. Big Gulp comes in very handy on those hot days

GTR -

Do a search - there was a pretty long post in Oct or Nov of last year I think. I have no idea what the Audi cupholders look like...Arthur??

The VW cupholder holds two cups and is mounted on the side of the center console towards the dash. Unfortunately they won't fit Big Gulps! When not in use, it folds up and all you see is a 4" by 8" rectangular shape mounted agains the side of the console. Very inconspicuous - esp as true sports cars wouldn't be seen dead with cupholders!!

I am the satisfied owner of 2 Utlimate Cupholders for my 540i. They work very well. I'd have to see how the designer intends to locate and secure in a 993 in order to offer an opinion.

The VW cupholder works great! I had a Wendy's "Biggie" Ice Tea in mine last night.

Sorry for the typo, I meant VW Passat cupholder not Audi, but then again they are the same company anyways . Well if someone wants to be the prototype tested for the 993 Ultimate cupholder, I think the maker is looking for an owner in the DC area so he can create one for our cars. I'm sure someone on the boards lives in the DC area.

I also have the double VW cupholder. Works like a charm. No screws or bolts. Ingenious!

I did a search for that VW Cupholder and the thread with the pic of it no longer has the pic! Can anyone post (again) a pic of the cupholder in place? And perhaps a pic of how the cupholder will fit into its spot. TIA

Haven't you guys started using velcro on your cups and left shoulder?
Hell, you don't even have to use your hands to take a sip.
Just remember one important thing....if your passenger asks you a question you don't know the answer for, do NOT shrug your shoulders and say "I dunknow...!" Doh!

That Passat thing is absolutely great. A little expensive though, if you're VW dealer charges full retail. I remember though Sean Spicer's caution about its proximity to the wire harness under the center console, so be careful with your liquids.
