Default horn wiring question

I have installed a Momo steering wheel (which I love), removed the air bag, and decided to go with a wireless horn transmitter /receiver.
(Wolo RC100)
So ... here is what is happening. Any ideas?

I have wired the receiver directly to the battery for the power supply. And the other wires on the receiver , per installation instructions, to the horn hot and ground from the original horn at the steering wheel.
When I push the button the horn sounds.
When I turn on the key to bring up the dash-lights, push button = no horn sound.
When I crank the car, push the button = no horn sound.
When I turn it off and remove the key, push button = horn works.

What tha what?

Sounds like you attached it to a switched ground. Wiring is incorrect.

Ah ha. I wired it to the ground at the steering wheel button. So ... that must be a switched ground. I never would have guessed that. Big thanks. I think that is it.

Hi Carlo,
Do you have a concern about tapping the horn button and causing the horn in other folk's cars to honk?

Sounds like a bonus feature to me. :-)
I am not sure what is going on with the wiring in my car. The key switched on does give me a good horn and ground without the wireless unit. But with it nothing. So ... perhaps it is the Wireless Wizard itself.
I had the ecu reworked for ROW. So I am stepping away from this. Just my luck to mess up my computer trying to wire a stupid horn (that is connected to the alarm system).
So I actually am reinvestigating wiring the horn with out an air bag. I found good recent info on YT for this. Did not see it 6 months ago when I changed out my steering wheel.
nice addition to this info
