1) Did you purchase the shop stool from Griot's ?

2) How did you get the rear off the ground ...did you place wood over the jack saddle and raise from the engine ? Then put both stands in place.

I got an email asking roughly the same thing about the jacking procedure; here's my wordy explanation:

-----------------------------------------

Yes -- I'm definitely not willing to crank a single side up far enough to have three holes exposed on the jackstand center shaft, and enough if that was safe, it would drop the rear bumper so far down that I couldn't fit even the A/C jack underneath to get to the engine.

I've got a pair of lumber 'pads' - a couple of pieces of 2x12, ~24" long, screwed together. I start on the passenger side, jack from the rear jackpoint, high enough to put a jackstand under the front jack point with two holes exposed on the center shaft (intermediate height). Put one of the double-thickness lumber pads under the RR tire. Lower onto the jackstand, move the jack to the LR jack point. Jack the driver's side, put the second jackstand under the LF jack point, with *three* holes exposed on the center shaft; put the second lumber pad under the LR tire. Lower off the jack.

Jack the RR jack point again to increase the height of the RF jack to three holes.

Put the jack under the engine, with a ~4" long piece of 2x4 as a pad, jack the rear up & insert the two rear jackstands in place, three holes exposed.

Robert,

I saw how high up you got your car in the photo on 993 Board. Did you do anything special as far as the sequence you used in jacking up it up to get it so high?

How does that save your back? You strain it more jacking the freakin' car up & down, installing/removing the jackstands, and removing/installing the wheels than if you just bent over to wax the sucker!!!!

I have deleted my posts in this thread as they are off topic and belong on the OT board.

I guess my response to your OT response to my earlier OT response to EJ's OT post must also be OT and should be deleted.

I was eyeballing the headlamp assembly to clean the inside of the lens.

Dan

I believe you are haivng another senior moment.

You've never seen that photo before.

The photo is from last weekend's Auzzie GP.

The people pictured are hospitality specialists provided by FOCA for any Rennlist Gurus present.

Don't tell me you weren't contacted by one of Bernie's people?

Perhaps your paperwork has been misplaced. Or perhaps they don't recognize your Guru-dom.

Unfortunate.

Congratulations on being fanatical.

I would call you Rowbear, but anything French is not cool now.

Doh! And here I was going to save my 1,000th post for something special, start a new thread dedicating it to JimBob.

Hey, when we kick out Saddam, maybe we should put JimBob in place as interim President?
