993 stopped running at idle, no codes
Looking for any known issue on this weird behavior. My 1996 993 stopped running while in neutral at an ATM. Wouldn't restart, starter turns engine turns over, but never catches.
I checked OBD2 and saw no codes, but oddly does show "Malfunction Indicator Light on" even though the check engine light is NOT lit on the dash.
Checked the ignition plug wires at the distributor and do not see spark. Sprayed starter fluid into intake, confirming no spark, no fire.
My friend brought his more sophisticated OBD2 scanner over and confirmed the camshaft sensor is registering 200 RPM while starter is turning over the engine.
Have owned this car since 1998 and never seen this behavior. Hard to research this via forum search. Wondering if immobilizer chip could be bad on my key? Appreciate any guidance here.

i search these forms using google. if you add "site" colon rennlist.com in the search block it just searches rennlist.com
site:rennlist.com searchterm1 searchterm2
site:rennlist.com 993 not starting
-------------
to your specific issue, it sounds like a bad DME relay

Search for the solid state DME to fix this issue for good

+10 on your symptom = failed DME. If you'd like to confirm this and perhaps get back on the road in a few minutes it's a pretty simple soldering task to fix these. Search DME cold solder joints or DME repair - there are several threads. BUT, don't fail to get another one ASAP so you can keep the repaired one as a spare. Or as noted, the solid state version is a good permanent fix according to many here.

$123.00 for the DME relay sounds expensive. In any case use this one as a spare and buy the solid state one from Focus 9 Technology. I think it’s like $80 ish. Make this your primary.
