993 C2S Intro - New Owner
Here’s the long awaited introduction.
Quick background – Have been a 911 fan since I was a kid. My high school story is my school bus driving past a house everyday, quite frequently I would see a guy washing his black 993 cab. Looked so good. Since then I would see 993s around here and there and wanted a wide body. I had never sat in a Porsche or been to a dealer until late 2011. I wanted to save the moment until I was able to buy one. I thought hard about getting a 993 or a new one. I bought a CPO car in Feb 2012, a 997.2 C4S with 13k km on the clock with an awesome spec if I say so. I’'ve added a few more in recent years but never a 993, preference for other things, I guess I wanted 2 things at once and couldn’t. Nonetheless I’'ve finally added a 993. Started looking in Dec 2020 and landed on this car late Jan. My first choice was Arctic Silver on Black, and there was a car, but not as good condition. I’'m no stranger to Guards Red and enjoy this colour too, I have an Indischrot Red 88 930 (RoW import from Germany). Kids ask my favourite colour, I'm never sure. Perhaps it's red, as this is my third red car. I also wanted a non-aerokit car, this car has aerokit, which I am appreciating in person more than pictures. Arctic Silver wide body may become an add later without Aerokit.
It’'s a 1997 C2S with 36k miles. I’'m the third person to own it, last person that owned it was a PCA member and owned it since at least 2001 per service records I have.
Options list - Motor Sound, 18" Tech Wheels, HiFi Sound Package, Comfort Package, LSD, Power Seat Package, Aerokit II
All original paint with the exception of the front aerokit spoiler, it was repainted. Looks like it was painted independently of the rest of the bumper. The spoiler repaint isn’t an exact match to the bumper or rest of the car, it's not obvious in person but will bother me as I noticed it. I already see the front spoiler has scratches underneath from rubbing on something, guess it happens with stock ride height if you aren't attentive. Interior is in fantastic shape, back seats look like they were never used. Well maintained with lots of service history.
Shoutout to K2 Motorcars in Florida for the sale and 9automotion for a thorough PPI, go see them if you need air cooled work. Would deal with both again. TFX handled my transport from Florida to Toronto, great as well.
I thought about replacing the aerokit package for EU front bumper and standard S decklid before I bought the car. I’'ve acquired some parts for the decklid already, a good deal from a fellow RLer for new parts. It’s an expensive project given I need a new lid and everything else pretty much. May leave this project until winter or next year. Let’s see how I feel about the aerokit after time with it, maybe I won’t replace it as it's grown on me (essentially as soon as the car arrived).
Late April mods – KW v3, FD Stage 2 mufflers, FD Short shift w/golden rod and wide oval tips, front protection bar (Carnewal)
Mods being considered – Classic Radio, new tires (current Pirellis are 2016, good tread life left but I don’t like regular Pirellis).
I’'m going to replace the stone guards soon, already have FD ones. I also want to remove the window tint. Will give both of these a try myself, something to do that will provide satisfaction.
The car was registered a couple weeks back, went out for the first drive last Saturday. Early morning, only an hour or so. First impressions, wow how modern the driving feel is compared to my 930, not better but different. But it is also not like my 997. Was immediately comparing to the 930 and 997 as those are the closest bookends I have to the 993. This all makes sense for the generational position it holds. Did not push the car as I am getting acquainted and it was cold morning. I'm really looking forward to getting the car out on the road more as the weather improves, really see what she has! Looking forward to being a part of the 993 section here on RL.
Enough rambling, here are a few iPhone pics. Will take some better shots when I get to spend some more time out with it.

I’m in the non aero kit camp as well, a 2S with a split grille and nice set of wheels is perfect IMO.
