Default Oil Change

Next week, I am planning to take my car to my Porsche dealer for an oil change and to replace both filters.
What is the maximum capacity of oil with both filters replaced?
This is an easy one...lol

Theoretically 9 litres as a certain amount will remain in the oil lines and cooler, but then your dealer should know that. I change my own.

That's not true. My dealer has been servicing my car since my car was delivered to the same dealer new. The same air cooled mechanic has been servicing my car since my car was delivered new to the same dealer.

yes, and I am grateful. I think he has been at the dealer for twenty-five (35) years. There isn't much that he hasn't seen.

That’s awesome! My mechanic worked for Porsche as well up till 1998 so the last car was the 993 then he went out on his own ever since.

I think that is also good and works for you. Whether the mechanic works for a dealer, is independent, or a member repairing the car himself, it is important that the repair is done correctly the first time. Results matter. Also, I know that I can change the oil myself. I live in a spot where a lift will not fit. The risk of getting under jackstands makes no sense at my age when the dealer changes my oil and both filters for $300.00. I'm sure that the oil can be changed less expensively, but for me, it's not worth it. To each their own.

The more oil one is able to change, the less old exhausted oil will remain inside the oil circuit...logic, no?

So? I've been able to remove 11 liters, not because I am special, but only because I left the car for 5 days on the jack stands, dripping oil, slowly, drop after drop.
At the Porsche dealer they don't have 5 days on the lift free for any of their customer, you could be the Pope or the Prime Minister, doesn't matter, the show must go on.
I can understand if you need your daily to be serviced, but our aircooled cars are most of the time far from being daily.

The operations, jacking + oil filter removals + second line disconnect + reverse job doesn't take more than 2 hours.
The filters are 30 euro both, Mobil 1 5w-50 8 euro/liter, I usually buy 13 liters, 3 box of 4 liters an 1 liter more for refilling if needed.
it is 150€ of satisfaction, since I know almost all the oil is brand new, but I know it is not a matter that anyone has time, attitude or will of going through, even though I think any 911 owner should try doing it at ,east once in his/her life, because it is really something that changes the perspective.

I hope they have the right oil for an air cooled 911. Don't let them put the bulk 0W40 into your car.

Mobil 5W50 is an excellent oil. I use it in my water pumpers. But. it's the wrong viscosity for an air cooled 911.

Why do you say that? It is exactly the same oil that you find inside the Porsche Classic oil.

As of about 2018, maybe 2019, Mobil is not the OEM supplier (and never has been) of oil for Porsche's classic series. It's possible this has changed in the past couple years, but I doubt it.

Lastly, the Classic Oils are very model specific. For example the Classic 20W50 is for the 356, 914, and air cooled 911s with displacement of up to 2.7 liters. The Classic 5W50 was developed for the 986 and 996.

You are using the wrong oil in your 993. It would be an OK choice at places like the arctic circle, for your cold starts.

Would you use a Mobil 1 Super 2000 10w40?

Mobil was the official supplier for the Porsche 993

I was using this one before taking taking car to the circuit, the higher hot viscosity, works perfectly in the very hot Italian track days, not because of the weather, since I don't bring the car in the oven, it is bad for the driver and for the car. I use a lot of attention by avoiding extreme hot conditions, basically driving the car to the circuit only with mild climate conditions.
I would/could probably give a try also to the 10w60 on the yellow car, while the silver could go back to the 10w40 since I will use it only on the road
