Hi all,

I'm new to the board and am impressed with the wealth of information here, as well as the healthy attitude.

I'm looking at a '97 C2S (triple black) w/23,000 miles for 50K. Seller is a very reputable dealer. Not too many options besides limited slip.

Anyone got an opinion?

My last 911 was an '81 SC which I truly loved. That was 15 years ago and now I need a few more amenities (like functioning AC). I will probably put 15-20 K miles on it each year and store it for 4 months each winter.

Last ride was a 2000 540/6 speed. Good car, but I'd like something a bit more visceral. Checked out an M5 and loved the power, but no comparison in the backroads.

sounds like the 993 was made for you!!
make sure to have a PPI done, including one by a good body shop.

Like the mileage......does it come with 18inch Rim Pkg and Big Reds ??

Don't know your locale.....however.....$50k seems reasonable with a bias toward the high side, particularly if you are on the East Coast.

When I searched out mine...I found cars advertised in the West and South regions priced higher than the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.

Either way....if it's stock with no mods and clean both cosmetically and functionally, you've got yourself a sweet car ready for some ...aaahhemmm

thanks. and yeah 18 inch rims but I'm pretty sure it didn't have the red calipers. and car is completely stock and super clean in and out.

any rec. for someone to do PPI in NW jersey?

I'm not sure what 'triple' black' means, black exterior, black interior, and .....

I have an M5 and have added a 993 RUF BTR. I agree that no amount of mods can make BMW 5 series (M5 included) corner like a Porsche on country back roads. That's the reason I bought the RUF. No more compromises, and/or wannabees.

Also 15k to 20k miles in eight months of active driving is awesome. Good for you. I do put in about 15k miles per year per car, but in CA, I get to drive year round.

I'd say get that 993, then put PSS9s on. The ride quality is truely wonderful. You'll love it.

My car is a 98 C2S, blk. on blk. with many options and low miles. If the ppi is good on this car.....Buy it.....The price seems right....you will love it....

triple black is for a cab. black exterior, interior and top.

Usually correct, but I don't think they made the C2S in a cab...

You are correct on the C2S cab. My definition was for the term "triple black" only.

This could be a stupid question. But if the car has a black interior, do they EVER put in a head-liner of a different color?

Others with more Porsche history may correct me, but the term triple black (at least as far as my memory) was applicable in the '80's when ordering a Porsche. It is not really relevant today-- as cars are standard with black headliners. In my experience, the term was has been used to describe color, interior and headliner; and is not a term of art for describing a convertible with a black top, etc.

So... the PPI went well and I'm the owner of a C2S.

Triple black is an 80's term (which was last time I owned a 911) for exterior, interior and headliner. Back in them days, as I recall, you could get a blk. int/ext. with a light colored headliner.

I don't know if I'm fond of the stock steering wheel in this car. Is it a bitch to swap out? Any recommendations?

I loved the SO3's on my 540. Are they good on this car?

Will probably have my new toy next week.
