Joseph & Bryan,
I know that probably in the last 3 years, Porsche stood up it's first dealership and service center there. How are they service wise? Do they have knowledgeable technicians that are worthy of servicing GTs? or even normaly aspirated p-cars? I saw their website, at least they have real nice looking service bays.
I know you got your GTs before that dealership stood up, but foror brand new cars, how much price difference do they have compared to the dealership here in the states? How much tax does Phils want on exotic auto sales? Is the boxster sales up there?

Hi Mike,
This is my first Porsche so I really don't have any history with them. Joseph would be best to answer that. However, the same people handle BMW and I've not had any unusual problems yet (6 years 3 cars).
Prices have recently dropped due to a change in the customs duties. For instance, prior to September (?) '03 a BMW 745 Li was approximately US$ 193,000. Now you can get one for US$ 154,000. A new 996 c4 in the showroom was priced at about US$ 140,000. A new Boxster is around US$ 100,000. If you deduct the sticker price in the US you'll have an idea on the taxes and duties applicable here.
They seem to sell more boxsters (42 in 1998, total of about 100 to date).
They sold about 50 units of 993 and so far around 40 units 996. They've sold about 30 Cayenne at US$ 125,000 each so far but they expect to sell over 50 this year with the new V6 model.
Hope this is of interest.
Regards,
Bryan

Bryan,
Thanks for the info. Joseph PMd me too. But that is a big difference on prices!!! Boxster for 100K USD? wow , I could get a GT3 for that!! I just don't get it why they put that much of taxes on cars??? How could they encourage more businesses when they're killing them with tarifs and taxes??? Anyways, don't want to talk pollitics. I just want to talk about "P" cars ...you guys have one of the finest specimens Stuttgart has ever put out

Carrera Mike, Hong Kong is about 25% higher than the Philippines and Singapore is 50 to 75% higher. Strange huh? The USA is probably the cheapest place to buy vehicles!

In many parts of the Caribbean the import tax on new cars is 100-125%. For example, a $100K Porsche in the US would be at least $200K US in Barbados. Then, when you convert to Barbados dollars (2 to 1), you'd be at $400K in Barbados dollars.

Bkcsr, I thought Phils is the highest in Asia. Wow didn't know that Singapore & Hongkong are worse. I would think they're lower
wht993cabrio, I totaly don't understand why the Gov't wouldn't want it's citizens to have nice, well engineered vehicles???
